maybe it can be taken away for those consistently abusing it

maybe it should be earned or left with more responsible members

its hard to determine whether it is warranted though:oops:

It's a fine line... you have member trust for correctly spamming threads, you get numpties who incorrectly spam, and then you have the usefulness of the button that reduces mod workload when a thread that is utter pants (like advertising etc.) that needs to be removed.

I agree-especially when its "nonsense" threads-why on earth are people spamming them??

just cos they dont personally like the thread-some people even seem to spam discussion threads because the argument isnt going their way.

its ridiculous.

Well i think the most important thing that should be needed is that a member shouldn't be allowed to cold vote a deal without adding a reason, such as adding a reason box to the comment boxes or something

if its spam surely:thinking:

and not just an attempt to remove threads you just dont like or from a member you have a grudge against with no other justification

Why? You not noticed some abusive stuff that sometimes occurs in the OP, or the fact that companies sometimes post in it or scams do.

Sorry but i'd rather inconvience the children who post crap, and let the people who abuse it take some flak.

Rather stop people getting potentially scammed, who are gulable then have a no spam button.

Hope you get what I mean and don't whine.

I do get what you mean but if you leave the button there then incorrect spammers need to be dealt with-I know its a nightmare for the mods and hard to police but would be nice if there was a solution.

They have this week dealt with a fair few, noticed a fair few suspended members after a refresh on a thread.

It's not hard to police, its a lot easier then dealing with account violiations on the other.

The same people do it all the time.

Agree to all the above but, its a fine line between what is acceptable and what is breaking the rules.
You are NOT permitted to spam blatant lies, you will recieve an infraction for this.

So, what is it for?
Offensive comments should be reported.

Any help??

We know what you mean by lies, but misc is full of crap. So spamming it would be pointless, its actually better to let those threads run, as they are more at risk of getting themselves infracted trolling, and vise versa.

Should be used when a threads duplicate or offensive yes. But if you do I would go back and report the thread with an explanation. Done this before.

Just my opinnion though.

why is it so easy to use the spam button but so difficult to use the ignore button?

you cant spam threads listed in misc-nonsense as lies or there would be no misc forum left

just because some people choose to start threads about nonsense doesnt mean you have to partake in them or "spam" them......its entertainment at the end of the day same as tv.....different channels to watch or not

When you've been on at 3 in the morning (no mods about) and a user has changed ALL of their photos to porn you realise why the spam button is needed.
