Not a problem here. A bit of plastic = no unwanted pregnancy. Surely a good thing?
#2
I must admit, I don't like the idea of HUKD being viewable by anyone without registration, and with that feel that some of the deals can be somewhat racey so can see MarzBarz point.

Yeah but your an adult.

I agree with Marz, the whole site is used by people under 18. I don't really like to see deals on vibrators when I'm looking for some good bluray/game deals.

annsummers.com is allowed on here so don't see a problem with it, annsummers is on the high street and kids can walk in and pick these off the shelf no age restriction on them, but I see plenty of people selling 18+ games on here.

get over it. i mean seriously you're so concerned about your kids, you're going to set about cleaning up the contents of every website one at a time, starting with this one? it's not porn, it's a bit of plastic and if your kids already know what it is for then the harm is already done. people have the option to install filtering software or to just supervise their kids on the computer. and while it might be a family friendly site, i means it's hardly a kids site.

"What's that mummy?"
"it's a toy for grown ups"

problem solved.
#7
as lumor said ...... its viewable on the highstreet so why not online? get a grip ....
#8
All very well having an adult deals section, but how do you keep kids off it?
I'm not keen on having stuff like this on display on the high street, though can't see any real objection to it on here. I don't consider this a site meant for children really.

Mary Whitehouse Found Alive On HUKD Forum
*** BREAKING NEWS ***[/CENTER]

What the hells going on? People are moaning because of an "item" used by millions of people worldwide is being advertised as a deal. There is no rude pictures, it was tastefully worded by the OP and just our imaginations that are clouding this deal. It's like Mary Whitehouse has come back to life and joined the forum!!

The item had no description of use and the pictures barely resemble a sex aid, but suddenly we're surrounded by the PC Brigade outraged that a "MOD" would dare to put these on.

I have children myself and would hope that either they wouldn't know what the hell it was, or open minded enough to realise that sex is not an unsaid dirty word like it was in the fifties and sixties. Frankly at the moment I feel surrounded by prudish 60 year olds that must turn the TV over if someone swears on a program, just in case the children hear it.

My comments on that thread were purely in jest and I would have thought that we were all mature enough to view that item and not just see it as a RUDE, BLASPHEMOUS OBJECT.

I'm probably going to get slated for this post, but I don't care. It's 2009 not 1959!!

You think a kids gona go in and pick one up, im not so sure about that. Most would just turn there head away and walk on.

btw this is my opinion.

Didn't see the post in question, personally. Very pleased to hear that "no description of use was felt necessary". That would have been entertaining though.:-D
What is almost as entertaining is the idea that people are more prudish as they get older.
Do you know a lot about the 60's then?

Probably not though kids aren't like we used to be

I do actually know about the 60's as I was born then. Yes older people are more prudish than the youth of today. When I was younger women would NEVER mention about things like panty pads and tampax. The thought that Durex would be sponsoring TV programs with vibrating rings would have had that TV company probably dragged to court by Mary Whitehouse.

I didn't see many people today cringing at the Allday pantyliners on here or the amount of time condoms are put up as deals. Surely condoms should be looked on in the same way as sex aids as they ultimately reach the same goal!!

I agree that society is far more open about sex than it used to be, but I don't agree that prudish attitudes are the premise of older people.
The freedom that we all enjoy today started in the 60s. So I wonder who started it? Mary Whitehouse reacted against it all.
I think you'll find prudes in all age groups if you look around. I know I embarass the hell out of my 20year old:? ,but thats another thing.

Wait until Thursdays "Deal Of The Day" from that site gets posted on here. It's going to be a Fleshlight!! If you don't know what that is, or too young to know what I'm talking about, Google it. Why should the girls have all the fun. :-D

By The way, I am only joking before I get moaned at.

Mmmmm.... I have to say, I think censorship just creates more intrigue. My 13 year old daughter is a member on here, and I hadn't even thought about the 'undesirable' deals!?

If she saw one on here, and she didn't know... she would ask me, and I would tell her in basic terms. Though I would imagine she is talking about FAR worse with her mates at school!!! :|

I'm a bit slow, have to admit:roll: Finally took a look at the original offending post:?
Looks like earphones to me;-) so any kid who sees it and knows what it's for- well not much point in putting filters on your internet for them!
Notice that the objections came from a 23year old though. ;-)

How many times do you see FFS on here.
Anyone NOT know what it means. :whistling:

I'm not saying it's right or wrong though.

The thing is, the second you make it out of bounds... it is INSTANTLY more appealing!!! :w00t:

My theory is... talk about it! You gain more control that way!! :)

( I'm agreeing with you BTW!!! :-D)

I have to say there arent any rude pictures...And this is best website on the planet....This is a family website...if you dont like it...tuff.....

okay ill be the voice of reason on behalf of the mods who have not posted, and I can see why.

In an ideal world it would be absolutely fantastic to meet everyone requests, adult section, two misks etc etc. But this wont happen, there is no way to prove that anyone her is over 18 really, people like brorolad24 who is 14, can make another account which says hes 18+ to visit the adult section, which defeats the purpose of the adult section. more Trolls etc etc

This thread is appalling - the mods need to delete all the Misc type posts that have crept into this thread. This is supposed to be feedback not Misc. Marzbarz raised a serious point which few of these posts respond to.

Indeed, I've now given this thread a clean-up.

You'd be surprised!! I know my little sister does. She comes to get the freebies and cinema tickets for her and her friends. Also, remember that some banks give children as young as 11 debit cards which can be used for purchasing things online from many retailers...

I personally feel that the addition of an "adult" section would just ENCOURAGE people to post more adult material and items, rather than being a means of hiding them away...

Thanks Duck and I agree with your point about an adult section

I reckon you should only be able to see the threads...but your only allowed to read posts within them if you are registered

I wonder why people who raise an objection are labelled 'prudes'?

And why does poor old Mary Whitehouse always get dragged in?

I can assure you that I am emphatically NOT a prude! In fact, you would be amazed to learn what I get up to . . .

However, there is a time and a place for everything.

By adopting the "anything goes" attitude, we have made a pretty lousy society, full of violence and disrespect for others, especially women.

Me and my family don't go around using swear words and behaving like louts. So I suppose that nowadays we will be classed as prudes. What a sad world we have allowed to be built for our children.

Bravo ! A voice from the normally Silent Majority although I have to agree with chesso on the M.W. issue. She did more harm than good IMO and effectively ended up promoting what she was trying to ban.
[helper]#36
I'm "uneasy" with such items being posted on the deals forum mainly from the point of view that although adults may be looking at the threads, children have a nasty habit of looking over your shoulder (mine are always asking me about the smiley faces on here) but I don't really have any workable alternative suggestions.
#37
Agree with op.. where do you draw the line at what sex toys can be openly shown? Someone mentioned the fleshlight....google it and see if you reckon it would be ok to put up a deal and pic on it......if not ..why not? its just the male equivalent of a vibrator etc.
#38
All adult items/toys should be banned. Simple. Theres no need for them, 99% of them get massive heat they get is because there a sex toy and the usual few jump on board with there puns and jokes + heat. Grow up. it's not a amusing topic its an item or a deal, but if its going to be advertised on here you can't call it a family site. You may as well stick an 16+ Signup, you can't really have it both ways. I agree with what ducks saying sticking a section will premote them. I think you admins need to have a word, is it really worth the money you get from the adult items over the idea of more younger members? In a way.

Personally any subject matter thats put on the site that is just done to cause a reaction should be removed. 'Jade Goody Books/Tributes, Sex toys/adult toys, Religous material (always ends up in some Troll).

This is my opinnion, not going to start debating it as theres nothing to debate.

yep you can't have it both ways if this is "family" site then those type of items shouldn't be allowed and neither should some of the threads in the misc that read like a poor readers wives stories type column. (theres one right now that I'm mystified why its allowed to stay on a so called "family forum and yet you cant say ****)

Treading on dodgy ground here, but is it only over 18's that masturbate?

Then do we ban the PS3/XBOX threads because of the fan boys, and similarly CocaCola/Pepsi threads? What about the battery eggs and cheap chicken that causes arguments? We could soon have no deals left at all!
