Dang! Wrong forum. Can mods move it to "Forum suggestions", please?
#2
Done. ;-)
#3
Admin? What is your opinion?
[admin]#4
Well off the cuff I would go with there are a zillion tech forums out there :) We have talked on here about a sort of experts exchange and feedback forum sort of thing which would encompass that. We've been static for 2 years though so you know we don't add forums too quickly :D

Paul, how about a 'help' forum?
I could help with ebay, Paypal and postage problems, Kommunist with VoIP and other 'techie' stuff, steffclip (stargate guy) with computer problems etc etc.
I think there is a lot of talent on here and it seems a shame not to tap into it.

Yeh and i could help make the cuppys :giggle:

Yeah, a "help" forum would benefit everyone - with DIY tips to cooking problems as well as the techhie stuff, lol.
#8
I think it all depends on who is answering the tech questions !! and if anyone can answer the querys.

What COULD happen is no tech mods on line and a novice looking at the help thread, this could result in bad information being given out by someone who thinks they know what there on about and doesnt.
#9
Personally, I see the Miscellaneous forum as all of those things and more...
#10
Maybe the title could be changed then to
"Miscellaneous Musings, Random Nonsense and some Techiness"

www.find-dvd.co.uk have a price watch function that e-mails you to let you know the price on any dvds you select to watch has dropped.

About £25 each at the moment except 3 which is £21.

It's one of the few times I don't recommend Region 1 as they don't have subtitles. (www.dvdcompare.net says they do but I think it's wrong)

Stargate was on Sky 1 at 8pm last Wednesday..just noticed in my TV guide..not sure if that's a regular slot.

And Yes I would support a Help forum.
#19
Well.. the idea was to have some sort of a place where all techie questions will go. Like recent VoIP thread or Internet connection problems, etc.
But then it is your forum you have to decide at the end whether it is needed or not.

That is an understandable concern, I have seen some technical information given out that is incorrect and misleading but on the whole there is usually enough activity which ensures the correct information is given out.

Not wishing to steal anyone's thunder here but when I was a PC user (now a Mac user) the best advice I had was from the newsgroup: 24hoursupport.helpdesk. Wrong information and flame threads were a problem there too but Spider, Ron Martel, trout, miggsee, dollface, gangle, plato and old sourdough always gave out good advice.

I visit the Mac newsgroups and forums for tech help now. Emma gave me advice when I was new to this forum. I suppose if a poster asks a general user question in another thread they could be referred to a HDUK tech help forum or a FAQ thread.

I've just been browsing and found a great post from rayman:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25646

which unless bumped up continuously is lost in Miscellaneous Musings and Random Nonsense.

That's a great thread from Ray. I refer to it quite a bit when new members join now, who are keen to start posting.

Not necessarily, it's in Rayman's signature if you need to find it. And it's not hard to find a post from Ray!!

Agreed and I certainly can't say that Ray doesn't post much! :)
You would have to be a pretty unlucky poster to miss that link.
