What with all the mess their vouchers create for the users of the site, I feel it would be a lot more sensible to just remove them as a vendor.

http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84389&page=28

Seconded.
#2
I disagree. If people use the vouchers sensibly and don't get greedy, they work.
#3
I agree with shengis, but this is a site issue that only admin could make a decision on.
banned#4
I personally believe that this issue has come about from voucher abuse and littlewoods are trying to pull back some money, i do not for one minute agree with what they are doing but dont think we should stop using codes, we should continue using them and continue fighting to get them reinstated, littlewoods havent legally got a leg to stand on and they know this
[admin]#5
I think the best way for them to hurt themselves is for them to harm their customer relations. And that decision is up to them.

But that's not the issue. The website accepts the voucher but 'some' of the orders are then manually charged at full price. Mostly those that get jumpy and ring Littlewoods lol.

So what about the other sites that have problems with vouchers, or the sites that constantly do misprices and not forgetting the sites that never have any stock. Forget that lets ban them all:-D
#12
Why does everybody hate littlewoods, personally ive had no problem with them
#13
I hate Littlewoods! used a few codes on here on a few sites and got great deals. in fact many sites I have used since with no codes as they were a good price anyway.
With littlewoods, the prices are not cheap, but I used a first time customer code and opened an account. I did not "get gready" and used one code to open one account and order 2 items. Only one item arrived after ages, the 2nd after a few 20+ min phone call waits, I got cancelled and after a long wait again, money returned.
This was in July, I now get a letter today from them saying that they have reviewed the code I used and decided that it is not valid and I owe them £25!
There is not one good thing I can say about them. Long waits on thephone, useless customer services, rip off prices, and wanting money back months down the line.
never, never use them, please or you may get a letter at Christmas wanting extra money!
#14
I personally think they shouldn't be banned although i am one who has received a letter about the recharge of £25 .I have used the codes lots of times and had no problems up untill now .I feel its a risk you take using the codes and you should always be prepared to pay full price or return item .the issue with them is the fact they shouldn't beable to recharge for codes mths later when you no longer have the option to return.
I will wait and see what happens this time before using another or only use on larger orders where its not so obvious .
#15
I disagree i got a ds lite for £69 thanks to a deal so

Lol. At the end of the day the onus in this situation is on them to PROVE where the code came from. Something I think it would be highly difficult for them to do.

Asu, how many orders did you put in with them?

LOL im not paying them if they contact me and if they charge my account i will take them to court

I think maybe oyu used the code on multiple accounts and maybe thats why you had to pay back -- i was a new member and havent ordered from them since

I got a phone from them with the discounts off saving about £30 a few months back, and had no problems - but if they come back asking for more money, they can have the phone back instead!

the annoying thing with littlewoods related things on here is sometimes the deals that appear saying "get this game for £20" or whatever, when it's not really specifically a special on that game at all, but a £25 off anything type offer (if that makes sense!). It gets a bit messy after a while, especially with so many of them - just a "save £25 at littlewoods" would be clearer?

is it worth putting a sticky thread somewhere relating to littlewoods and their associated group, just advising people to be aware of issues relating to the vouchers that appear on here (eg be aware you may have to pay the full amount even if it appears to work on the site, don't stack up multiple vouchers, think of what two words you'd say to them,:) etc) or would that be singling them out unfairly?
#24
I opened a new account and have only ever used one voucher, which was used in good faith in the missunderstanding it was for all new accounts.

Hardly what I would call abuse.
#25
I agree - remove them!
#26
Isn't using Littlewoods codes at your own risk??? :?
#27
I used the dreaded £25 off voucher when opening my first ever account with them and didn't take the mickey (i.e. bought something for about £35 not £25). I too have been charged £25 2 months down the line. If I had known about the past problems with their vouchers I would never have taken the chance (lets face it, there are plenty of other places to find over-priced beach towels!!!!).

I personally think that if you cannot trust that their deals will stand then they SHOULD be banned.
#28
I vote for them to be banned!

Same for Mis-prices as well then?

Personally i think the responsability to decide whether to use them rests with the individual and not the site. You can always use the cold button.

Pmsl at all this voting for them to be banned. May I refer the right honourable members to this post:

Were most of the people who received the letter from littlewoods using the code and opening an account for a "first order". If this is the case surely you can say that you entered the wrong code and meant to input the one that gives you "first order discount". I think most of them that littlewoods offer are £15 off £25. Its perhaps better to try this and lose £10 than to argue and end up paying £25.00 plus the late payment fee.
#33
I honestly believe dealings with them are highly risky and a real trap for new users of this site. Of course people abuse the codes etc. but littlewoods accepting only to come back later asking to re-charge is wrong in itself.

not just wrong. Highly illegal
#35
I never used the codes but that was only because the site never took them.

From what I have read the problem in not using the codes but that Littlewoods waited over two months to decided you could not use that code.

If they did not want it used then the site should have stopped you all like it did me, and my account was a new one never used and never has been and not likely to ever now.

I think Littlewoods should be banned here as it's the members who make this site what it is and not the companies you advertise for free.

Littlewoods are con-artists how can they bill you after 6 weeks!! Its a sham to get there sales figures up......

I will never use them again !

Misprices are generally different, they're cancelled at the time of the order not several months after - if any company was doing this with misprices I'm sure people would want them banned as well.

Precisely - and people want the likes of Blah etc banned for continually having misprices. What Littlewoods are doing is far far worse - and downright illegal (even Blah's misprices are - to the level they do it - but only through a trading standards issue.)

The problems can get worse though. Arguing your corner, you'd probably get a bad credit reference lodged against you. I know that NTL DID do this to me - even though I didnt owe them a penny and didnt find out until years later when I tried to buy something on Credit.

So should they be banned? Probably not (though Id love to see it) - and providing its not a problem for people to post warnings of how they operate, then its a case of buyer beware.

All the above posts are relating to personnal effects these code could have. But what about HUKD responsability on this?
On a google search i came accross this thread - whereby Littlewoods had threatened legal action against a website for fraud.
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2002/11/21/dvd_forums_averts_littlewoods_legal/

I personally would prefer Littlewood codes to be barred, then have HUKD responsiable for legal costs.
Missuse of codes is fraud, and if used too many times, Littlewoods will look to cut it off at the source, not the individual.
