Cant we stop using FOR SALE as a wanted AD? Why cant we merge Deal requests and Wanted and just call it Requests Or Wanted - HotUKDeals

good idea

FS/FT should do what it sez on the tin

Then just rename DEAL REQUESTS to REQUESTS

The OP is dead right and half the stuff in Wanted is just cos they cant be bothered to search themselves or dont know how to so they just post up a wanted thread and expect others to do the hard work for them!

I totally agree with this as well.

Good luck OP :)

Wanted threads are in (and have always been in) the For Sale/Trade forum as that forum has the specific rules and features associated with private trades (ie feedback, the warning at the top etc) - so a sale can take place completely in a single wanted thread on that forum.

Deal requests are people asking for help finding new bargains - not second hand/privately traded things. If you mixed wanted requests in with deal requests, how would feedback be given for a sale completed?

Edit - That said, it would be nice if they could add filtering on the FS/FT forum so a user could easily choose to look at all posts, or opt to hide the wanted or for-sale posts...

Wanted requests in the deal request forum and then take it to FS/FT if a deal is struck ?
That would clear the FS/FT of all the wanted posts ??

Just a thought :)

It would presumably create an extra thread for each item (that ended in a sale) and there would also be 'personal' FS threads (ie 'FS: This DVD to User X') which is arguably worse than having the wanted threads in there; it also would remove the 'exclusivity' of the deal requests forum to people wanting help finding deals from stores\websites (as opposed to 2nd hand offers).

If they changed the submission so the For Sale/Trade/Wanted part of the title was always added (have the user choose the type before submitting) it would be quite easy to have the option of filtering out unwanted types - personally I think this would be a more elegant solution...

This is something I've wondered about actually. I see what you are meaning OP, I have asked for help in the deal requests section a few times and have been offered items for sale by other HUKDers in response.

I think you have a good idea actually.

Offers made in the deal requests could be made official in the FS section so much easier, dealt with quicker, feedback left and the FS thread then expired, rather than having the FS section jammed up with wanted requests etc.

Thumbs up from me:thumbsup:

but last time i saw this the member was infracted for having two threads, one in each board or something to that effect, your not allowed to deal in deal requests and not allowed to then open a fs thread :? so if people want to buy from members it should be in the fs boards

not going to pick anything apart, only saying what i saw, not going to trawl through thousands of posts to find it, but someone posted a deal requests, someone offered to sell, a fs thread was started and the said member was infracted, there was a thread about it all, but wouldnt have a clue how to find it

I think not many people would be looking in deal requests all the time to try selling their stuff to wanted.

I for one like how it is at the moment.

You should maybe google 'grammar' I would like that:thumbsup:

I'm 15 whats your excuse? :)

nope nope nope, although some people might be too lazy to actually look for their items. there are often a lot of actual people looking for second hand items and thus deal requests should not be used as that is for people looking for new deals.

Maybe a new wanted section aside from FS/FT with the same rules, just to split it up would work. however i believe the HUKD staff are quite happy with the way it is for now...but could be wrong.

"What'choo talkin' 'bout, Willis?"

I ask for stuff in deal requests, not looking to buy from others on here, but more for recommendations and suggestions towards the best item available and the average price I would be expected to pay for it. People put forth their suggestions and sometimes can offer the said items for sale at a good price, because they wish to help me, and at the same time they can sell an unwanted item of theirs.

I think the OP has a good point, instead of bumping down other peeps items in the FS section, it would make more sense for wanted items to be put in the requests section, and then any deals that come from that can be dealt with quite swiftly ie Deal done, feedback left and deal expired, therefore freeing up space in the FS section for actual for sale/for trade deals. Seems quite simple really, but hey who am I to set the rules?

Should maybe ask a 15 year old, what their opinion is? They seem to know it all after all!!!!

Thats fine, but people should should then report the thread to be moved to FS/FT and then not complete the sale until it is moved i believe. Also you've got the procedure wrong it goes like:
Deal agree, deal expired then feedback left.

But then you will also get a mixture of people who are actually just after deal requests and wanting second hand items. So either way your either leaving mixing FS/FT with wanted or mixing it with deal requests. Thus why if anything i believe wanted should get its own heading. Thus solves mixing up the forums and solves any bumping affecting fs/ft.
