if it is something for nothing then it should be in freebies, if posted in deals then a pm could be sent on removal asking them to repost in freebies, not sure why free cash cant remain in deals, you fill in something and get free cash, thats the deal :-D

P,s cant post on the inaccurate part as no idea what you are referring to
[mod]#2
But that's effectively the same as the numorous Empire Stores etc deals that have been posted with no minimum spend required with a money off voucher which then make the deal posted (t-shirts for one example) free but they have always been allowed to stay.

Although it's not cashback it's still something for nothing.

Personally I'm not distinguishing between "free" money and regular rates. I guess I don't think listing rates is a "hot" deal. Someone listed eBay cashback for example which we removed. So at what point is that line drawn?

Im with BG and if i move tariffs ( same BG rates) i can get £60 cashback, now is that deal, im already with them, no rates have changed as click 2 and click 3 are the same, is this a deal? or is it a freebies? so why not allow all free cashback in freebies:? why do they belong in misc :?
[admin]#5
I kind of don't think that is a deal sassie and that's why the line was drawn before (otherwise the Hot Deals forum would just end up a listing of cashback?)

At least it would make a nice change from catalogue voucher stacking for at least 1 day. :giggle:

yeah, thats fine, but surely free cash still belongs in the freebies?

So should there be (1) free cash cashback deals where no purchase is necessary and these could be listed if they are new (2) regular cashback which wouldn't be listed (3) cashback changes yes/no?? (4) cashback combined with a special offer that can be listed?

(1)yes
(2)if you mean like through shopping sites etc, etc then these are posted within a deal anyway
(3) sorry dont understand
(4)yes

or can i only choose yes to one of the above :?

well the BG deal is listed as a savvy tip on the quidco website, and the microsoft 'free' cash website deal is also highlighted there, so if those kinds of things are on the quidco website what is the point of them being posted in the forum? maybe quidco should add a new tab, 'free cash' or something...to make it easy.
[admin]#11
I meant on each one as you did sassie.

I agree ryoooh which is why we generally remove those kind of posts. I don't think it's useful to have cashback rates repeated on hukd.

Bump for more comments. I would really like some member input on this.

good if you like them, but annoying if you dont want to view them- could result in the hotdeals section being crammed full of them, could it maybe be put in freebies?

have you had a change of mind on this then :?

also a little bump to get some more responses ;-)

In my opinion as a mod sassie, that deal was left because of the heads up on the tariff changes, and the quidco is incidental to that.

as mine was in post 5 ;-)

There is a difference, as the tariff for British Gas itself is changed [up to £205 savings a year I think?] and could have been posted as a separate deal without the cashback.

so, as long as there is at least a 1p spend its ok to post a deal with quidco, maybe easier to just have a quidco board :?

Has this been finalised now.

I notice yet another 'Deal' for o2 sims in the hot deals forum.

I spammed it as it is in the freebies forum already. My post has been removed, and it has been allowed to stay.

Use the advanced search for 'Free o2 sims' and you will see the many threads with this already mentioned.
#21
If they're a different set of SIMs (o2 regularly release new SIM cards and some people order every time) then it should be OK...
[admin]#22
I think the free sims issue is different than the cashback one but I know what you mean thesaint. Sometimes the free sim link changes so in those cases it should be reposted I think.
#23
I accept the answers given :), so should these be in "Deals" or "Freebies"?

If members spam it, why doesn't a mod state the reason it isn't spam in the thread?
[admin]#24
I think they should be in freebies. Sometimes stuff is spammed with seemingly no reason so what might be helpful is if you spam it post a reason b/c then a mod can respond to that reason. Otherwise it can be hard to know why it was spammed.

I am sure that I stated my reason for spamming it in the thread?

If it wasn't spam, as has now been explained, it would've been helpful to know why.
[admin]#26
Sorry I was talking on a general level. I have no idea to be honest about the thread you spammed - my guess would be it was a new round of sims?
#27
Guv, this thread relates to cashback sites, such as quidco, topcashback etc... the cashback from merchants is a different kettle of fish (I think!).

Bump for more comments. I would really like some member input on this.

I think that the cashback sites could be mentioned in misc if they have some new rates or whatever, otherwise they can be made refence to in deals - like all the 'don't forget quidco'. They didn't used to be mentioned in the old 'tips' option hardly at all but perhaps it might be worth resurrecting that and the old 'sales' option as well. It seems that deals is filling with lots of variations on the same theme e.g. various stuff available now at Debenhams - all giving the same info and vouchers, just a different item. The feel of 'deals' now is very different to on the 'old format' and so perhaps people aren't as sure as to what to post or not??

Ah OK, sorry 'bout that! My bad reading! - Though this was something that you yourself amended to exclude the cashback a short while back. (ie remove a canon cashback so it was showing the price you physically pay at the time - and ignore the money you would 100% get back shortly!)

As a rule Admin I think Cashbacks listed as a "deal" should be avoided unless for exceptional circumstances.

My reasoning is could become a Cashback Site deal comparison war and is not really the purpose of this site imo at least
