Good call and it would be interesting to see what the offical reply is.

As for the RRP thing, I think that is more than sufficient. Nobody can go telling people to sell their item lower than any other online price, theres no rhyme nor reason for that. One of the rules is that the item must belong to you in order for you to sell it on here, therefore the price can, is and will always be dictated by the owner of the item and nobody else.

Over pricing the item for sale, especially if its a brand new item is sufficiently handled via the RRP test and I think thats a dam good rule to have in place. Its clear, its easy to understand and simple to evaluate.

Wavering from this will only deter users from using the site, and doing that then you lose the potential for those users to purchase something they see in the deals section that could be an affiliate money maker for HUKD.

anything that has happened that cant be explained clearly from the current rules should be explained by the mod who took the action, this is the very least that they can do in order to maintain some trust and confidence in them actually moderating the site. :)

Hi Syzable. The rule states-

(10) You must NOT list items for sale at higher than the recommended retail price. The marker of RRP will be determined by cross indexing with Amazon or other well known retailer. Profiteering is NOT permitted from items previously found at a lower price in the 'Deals' or ANY forum here.
* Vouchers available as non transferable or with next to no resale value, such as 0.001p for example and generally available free items etc. must NOT be offered for sale or trade.

There has been no amendment of the rules and items would only get removed if we believe the rules have been breached. As well as looking at the RRP we also have to use our discretion in some cases.

However an item does not have to be cheaper than anywhere else online and I would not pull an item for this reason alone.

Hope this helps.

Hi Col

I have seen 2 threads in particular tonight though. One was a XBOX Live points that got locked because they were cheaper at WHSmith (although he was below RRP) - He did get in trouble for trader like behaviour later but that's by the by as it was originally locked for price.

Also there is another thread where someone has been warned to lower their price on a 360 20gb HDD or the thread will be locked although once again it's below the RRP of one.

It was these 2 cases in particular peaked my interest in the rule and request of clarification. And as you have mentioned you would not pull an item for this reason but it gets confusing when different mods do different things.

Thanks for taking the time for replying. :)

The 360 hard drive thread is a strange one, as there's load of thread spoiling gone unpunished, but the OP has been told he is selling it for over R.R.P without anyone stating what the R.R.P is.

The way I see it is this site is about saving people money, we're not saving people money if we're letting them buy something they want, at a higher price and from a risky trading format then we're not doing our job as hotukdeal members  8-)

That's fine........pointing out a lower price is all good, i do it myself.

This is regarding people having their threads locked even though they are selling below RRP as in the rules. :)
