members asked for these rules, and members got them, any posts that are a discussion are not allowed in the fs boards

Kerz67: anyone???

BMR: are you suggesting insurance fraud!
Kerz67: not at all

Discussions about a product happen all the time there, you should be allowed to speak about it, not offers only...This shouldn't class as a bump either. Discussions about the product in question happen all the time anyway..
#6
I had one closed last week not from ASB though, I was replying to what people had written, which is classed as bumps It is absoluty fine as I didnt realise you could not do that, but it should be the SAME rule for everyone, I have seen people chatting in FS threads about allsorts.

Same should apply for everyone if its something they are getting strict on

where do you draw the line then?

some are genuine and some are just being used for stealth bumps.......

so thanks to the few everyone has to suffer and the rules are as they are

why shouldnt it, because someone didnt read the rules, or adhere to them?

So if you get more than 3 potential buyers, you reply to them, you can't reply anymore? What a rubbish rule, this isn't hard, common sense prevails.

There are chats that are valuable and necessary to a sale, and there are chats that should be happening in "The Misc".

Report the threads that have the latter, and they will be dealt with in the same way.

of course you can, now your being a little silly, there is a multi quote option if you have had three posts then answer all 3 in one post, if each one comes after a resonse then you reply to thse two, it is 3 bumps not 3 posts, bumps are posts that arent needed

It depends what it is that they're asking. If you put all the necessary info about the trade in the OP in the first place, there'd be no need to ask other questions :)

If you put 'collection only' in the OP, but then you get two people asking where collection is from, it's right that it should be classed as two bumps as it's your fault you didn't put the right info in the OP.
#16
Infact, just look at the topic...the people he has quoted aren't even the seller. He has quoted the seller three times. Even if this stupid rule was right, then the seller has had 3 bumps. It's not even chit chat either...

(17) Continuous 'bumping' of threads to promote your sale without good reason, will result in closed threads and infractions. Please edit your last reply in the thread rather than 'bump' with a new one, this includes adding images directly under one of your own comments, bumping by proxy or discussion and to a maximum of THREE BUMPS in total.

which part of discussing insurance fraud would help with the sale and didnt fall under the above

Agree, if the seller is replying to a genuine question from a potential buyer it should never count as a bump. The thread is question doesn't though, they are discussing other things, so it's a bump.

lulz.

So members can respond to complete random questions, and they would be rewarded by having a free bump.

As others pointed out, so long as it's a genuine question re the sale.

Personally I think the thread should have been locked anyway, as the OP appears to be encouraging insurance fraud.

though the OP uses that as an example they are saying in general here.....so why people are STILL arguing over just 1 thread is beyond me

as usual we can reply on you going against the consensus a complete random question falls under another rule al together (14) Please ONLY post in a thread if you are interested in engaging in the sale/trade listed. Anything else will be considered thread spoiling and will be deleted. Thread spoilers, including threadjackers as well you know and would need reporting in its self for the rule mentioned i am refering to legit questions ..... your senseless trolling never fails to amaze me

yes we all know it isnt over one thread, it is about one mod, never mind all other mods have to follow the same rules if reported, i have seen sigma, JB of late locking threads in there, but obviously not in there as much as the fs mod

surely if its a genuine question about the item for sale this shouldnt be classed as a bump

The closing of topics with no picture is also annoying, since when was it compulsory to have pictures? Even so, can't they just ask for pictures like they used to without closing it? That worked well from what i remember...

WRONG

diff mods do things differently

example:

a while back I offered the price for a 360 game.

Op then UPPED the original price as it was going for more on ebay

now other mods have locked/infracted/suspended for that action

certain mod locked thread and allowed OP to change price back to what it was and re-opened thread...with no infraction

the point there is all mods should go by 1 set of rules but as hass been argued numerous times they dont...wont ever change but your point is wrong

(5) Please Post Images (click for details) including a piece of paper with your user name and date next to the actual items for sale. This helps your sale or trade by showing the condition, establishing validity and also that you have the items in your possession. If you post an eBay image or are unable to post any images, we may pull the listing immediately to request further information

so let another mod take over for a month, see how popular that mod becomes, although from the past 2 other mods we all know the answer dont we

mod do follow same rules, it is the consequences for the broken rule that changes, and that also has to take into consideration whether the member as been infracted for it before or not, etc,etc

No one is punished for answering legitimate questions, so your point is moot.
You said "Never ever", sounds clear to me.

never see col about, he wasnt a mod for very long on there if you remember, and wasnt seen on there alot even when he was fs mod, moore behind the scenes, rayman was a fs mod and still gets abuse from those days now and also in cols time as a fs mod alot of rules where added because members asked for them, that surely shows members where not happy with things
#35
col also got plenty of abuse.

I remember when admin said there was going to be a dedicated FS/FT moderator, I said that he/she would get lots of grief, and wouldn't be fair on them.

This tells me that the mods always got abuse in that forum.

that is correct, all 3 have had abuse in one kind or another, col wasnt on long, and canna blame him

it also amazing how many members that manage to sell on there without any of this crap to, post their threads correctly, use their allowance of bumps correctly, sell and close, compare to the handful that continually break the forum rules and dont learn, easier to blame others though
banned#38
i think some of the rules need to be more of a guideline than a hard fast rule if someone who hasn't been a mamber long unwittingly makes a fourth bump should he / she receive a ban and a thread closure no they should receive a PM from the mods telling them of their error this would result in (hopefully) less need for infractions and closures in the future

handful? there are more than a handful

there are however a handful that get away with breaking them continually...they get a token infraction etc but others get FS bans for half of what they do

not that ive seen, this is the usual thread that will get no where because of the sniping comments, its been done numerous times and ends locked, and why does it end up locked, because members get carried away start bad mouthing others and the mods will lock it, then a thread in misc will be iopened and a mod blamed etc, etc, you only need to look at the first two threads in feedback to see what feedback has become and no wonder none of the mods before with a response
