Oh know Sassie, were you selling?

not me, but to close a thread because the op asks is just damn well stupid, surely?

why? not being funny or anything just trying to understand why your asking.

i am asking because it makes no sense for them to be locked before the transaction is complete, i am not referring to closure for rules breaches, but closure because the op asks

surely if its just negotiations and the seller no longer wants to sell then thats his right?

how far down the line was it? Had the person already made an offer and the seller accepted?

payment sent today and op asked for closure so its now locked, spoke to mod and said its fine they will reopen if problems i jsut dont get why, whenever you seen it before a mod always clearly states its left open till transaction is complete and feedback to be left :?

Well yeah, I'd agree with that. If the transaction is not yet complete then it makes no sense to lock it, but at what point are you deeming it complete?.

I always get my listings locked after the buyer has paid for the item, received the item and is happy with it but may not have left feedback as yet.

If you're talking about ones in mid-flow of agreement or negotiation then yeah, I dont see the point in locking those.

We often have to balance a thread being left open for Feedback &, for example, where the member requests that a thread is closed as they wish to list the remaining items elsewhere. But if there are subsequently any outstanding feedback issues they will take priority & we can review the thread lock at that time & re-open if necessary.

There is actually another recent thread that was discussing the similar issue with some relevant comments :

I have changed the title as it seems to be confusing some

I must admit, personally if I see/notice a thread like that when actioning a report, then I will expire the thread but will leave it unlocked with a request that the OP report the thread to be locked again once feedback is completed (with some exceptions obviously).

exactly, this is what i dont get, i pm'd a mod incase they hadnt spotted it was only paid for today and they said op requested it so had to close, i explained about transaction not complete, blah, blah, de blah, and they said they would re-open if any problems, whch yeah is fair enough but i really dont see the point, i though you where all singing from the same hymn book

it would help if new members where told of the correct forum etiquette, as a new member selling on here with no feedback one assumes she thinks this is the way its done

Surely reporting the thread in question would of solved this a lot quicker?

As you notice from the amount of closures (new members) people don't always read the rules.

report it for what?

I am asking where is the sense in locking a thread when item has not been received, payment only just made (2 hours before lock), yes new member asked for it to be closed, but maybe new member thought this is the way it was done

Report the thread as transaction is not complete. Done it before when OP's locked on me i'm like hold on a moment.

I agree but you can't punish someone for locking a thread so i don't see any other way of making a point to them if you get me, unless you stick it in the rules which is pointless, and more of a frustration then anything.

I spoke to a mod via pm so little point in reporting it, i just cannot understood why they would close it before the transaction is complete, the seller or the mods

not asking anyone to be punished, it just makes no sense, and have never seen it before, like i said its ususally, thanks for the report but leaving open till complete

Either there hiding something, or just impatient.
