I think cold voters should have to state why any way not just in the first 5 mins. Most people vote cold just because the deal isn't relevant to them or they dont like the paticular company/product etc it has nothing to do with wether it is a good deal or not, why vote cold just don't vote at all.

Yeah well if i would of said every time then they might not see logic in that. It was kind of a compromise as my deals (as well as other peoples) get hammered in the first 5-10 minutes of posting due to mindless cold voters.

So annoying yet something has not been done about it yet, hoping this could be a possible solution.

yeah but if you're going to make cold voters explain why, then shouldnt you also force hot voters to explain why they think its hot?.....

tbh its only a bit of fun...its pretty pointless unless some focus is put on it and currently that isnt happening so whats the points in getting upset just because something has '-' in front of the number?

Glad im not the only one who thinks this. More should comment here and form it into a petition to HUKD.

It will probably not be granted but worth a try. Just gives initial deals a better chance of the heat they deserve.

StevenA2000_uk i know its only fun but it frustrates the hell out of me when i have spent ages to create the deal for it to plunge into negativity... to start off with anyway.

That is a good point. Don't let it get to you, once you have been here a while, I tend to look through the new deals anyway. I don't pay attention really to the hot page for this reason :)

I can see the point in making cold voter leave valid reasons but if a deal is super hot your going to get massive 20 page threads of people saying Hot/Great deal/Super etc etc if you force hot voters to leave reasons, Best not to worry about it, It's not as if you can do anything with your point/score you can't trade them for money or jewels

Also what reasons are going to be left if it's cold alot of people don't just vote for the item, Personal taste, Retailers, Bad experiences, The OP, Already posted, Are we going to have to select from a list of reasons like when you return catalogue items??

What it should be is one member, one vote one point either hot or cold none of this having higher points than any other members just because you've been here longer or have posted more deals.

Some people don't spend 24/7 on here or run a database. Get my drift?:?

Making cold voters won't work the reason "aldj adljasdljasljf aslkdjf" I could just type gibberish or a stupid answer like "thats life".

Why not have a minimum temp of zero ie there are no minus temps. People can still vote cold or hot. Deal posters won't get offended when their deals are voted sub-zero (because they'll never know). I agree that virtually all deals are initially voted cold. The idiots who vote cold just to annoy people won't get any satisfaction as the temp can't go below zero....

why do people worry about the temp anyway? if I post a deal and people vote it cold, then I couldnt care less.

Cant say ive noticed this problem and indeed the opposite id say is more of an issue with people voting HOT for the sake of it, eg these ancient cd and dvd deals where people vote hot just because they liked the film not because of the price as you wouldnt expect to pay a lot for an ancient dvd.

Another example is where I voted cold on an item last night (not a cd or dvd) and clearly showed where it could be bought cheaper but by the time I logged off it had been voted HOT by a lot of people, how can people possibly vote HOT for something when the first response post clearly showed where to get the same item cheaper?

People clearly have too much money by the looks of it and a finger that votes almost everything HOT

That where the mods should come in by being able to remove the comment & the cold vote or bans for people who do this, You still need the minus temps IMO because the're some really terrible deals on here sometimes.

Thats another good point, alot of voters never read any of the comments just vote hot or cold without actually checking if the deal is still going and if it is the cheapest price, I also find that alot of DVD/CDs are just posted over and over again every few weeks, I've just stopped voting for them because it's the same deal by the same members like ROBOCOP, GUNS N ROSES, U2, ALIEN, BATMAN, FIGHT CLUB, DONNIE DARKO etc etc all either cult film or classic albums that most people have but don't actually buy.
