well they themselves must know it doesn't work by the responses and comments that everyone makes i think the bigger joke is why none of them ever comment about it or come up with the reasons that it doesn't work and what they are doing to fix it .... or does it work and they simply ignore it

Hi,

We don't ignore - there's just a terrific volume to wade through. Sometimes the end result requires no action to be taken, and as such, a response isn't always made.

p.s. I still have an outstanding promise to you re feedback regarding Hottest Deals. It's not the most urgent enquiry at the moment, however it will be addressed.

^^ Well in that case have the decency to reply saying that 'your concern will be replied to at the earliest opportunity' rather than feel it is being totally ignored

all contact us uses should get a reply regardless its just polite at the end of the day and if there isn't enough staff to cope then take someone on who can address the contact us issues

It's not mean, if you have a contact us button then have the decency to reply. If you have little intention of replying to them remove the option as it makes the site seem poorly run in my opinion.

2 of the most complained items I see on here are the search function and the contact us button.

2 of the most important requirements of a decent site I would say.

For one of the biggest internet sites (of it's type) around I would have thought it should be a bit more professional than it is.

I don't believe for one minute they have members interest at heart (as the search engine would have been improved from the beginning)

Everything in contact us is read and acted on. There's a lot of messages that simply don't require any intervention from our side in order to be resolved.

As said earlier, I personally think that every message to the "Contact Us" should be replied to, even if it is an automated response once read. We can then no that it has been read at least.

I know it's not the public sector, but when I have worked for the City Council, I would reply if someone took their time to write to our dept.

A lot of the "Contact Us" reports made may not need an intervention, but the sender is still often left in the dark as to what has or hasn't been done if they see no changes.

100%. They just wanna know it's been acted on, or not, as the case may be.

Why is there a need to have confirmation by email to know that the report has been read or acted upon? Surely the Admin of the site explicitly stating that every report is read also satisfies this "need"?

I'm not too sure what exactly most people would get from "knowing" that the report was read by simply receiving an automated or personal response.

The very nature of the report buttons existence is based on goodwill and used by those members who have an interest in what is said in threads or about the site in general, and by using the report button is an implicit request for a Mod to "act" on their report. What should be clearly fed back to the users and has been done many times by the Mods and by Admin in the previous replies, is that every report is read, therefore has been acted upon.

To put it another way, if users dont think the Mods are doing anything about their reports then what motivation is there for users to continue using the report button? Its obvious that the trust is there otherwise no reports would be getting submitted!

Erm, they would know that the report had been read rather than just wondering?

Ok, if you really need me to explain then I will.

I would much rather know that it's been received and will be looked into, than be left in the dark, waiting and wondering if it's even been received.
Now I know you don't feel any better because you already knew what I was going to say.

Actually I do feel better as there has been much discussion surrounding the actioning of the report when all you are saying is that you want some comfort that your request has been received by them. Entirely different things and thats what I was trying to understand.

Maybe the team could try and build the users confidence that reports are being received. It would be good to understand how they could do that and get some ideas from the users as well as just telling the team what they want too.

and surely a lot that do, but don't get acted on.
There are always threads in here and misc where people are asking a question, and state they have used the contact us link weeks previously, had no reply, then magically a mod comes along and does what they are asking.
