Or am I just being narky as here ...

Yes. Had the item been of significant value then I would agree with you 100%. However I think everybody knows what a sim card looks like. :p

but yes, I agree with you on principle.

Its got nothing to do with being a solar flare, this member knows how to do it as has done before, and besides you only have to ask for help and you will find most people oblige. You can do this when you first start posting in fs

there is plenty of people who will help, it should be in the rules, no pic, no thread, this should be made clear in the page where you submit your thread

I don't think it matters to be honest.

I've sold stuff with no pics and had no complaints.

If they made it compulsory, at least it would stop most of the scammers.

Possibly add an option for "Add Picture" to the Submit menu? Not just an image tag but an option to upload at that point.

I see where you are coming from-agree pics are needed for certain items, others I dont really think so-I wouldnt ask someone for a pic of a 2 quid simcard but I would for an ipod in order to see condition etc.

I wouldnt ask someone with good feedback for pics of a concert ticket but I would ask a first time seller to show that they actually had them,or alternatively if they are prepared to mail first its not that important imho.

if a long standing member with good feedback advertised something brand new and sealed why would I need a pic? depends on the item methinks.

It would have to be across the board, if it wasnt it would be like it is now, people deciding when they would add pics, it does need to be an upload link and you cannot post till its done

All I see in that thread is a thread spoil.

There's no need for time limits etc, as the OP of these threads will be using their bumps when members ask for piccies.

Yep its in the rules.

while I agree it's in the best interests of the seller to provide a pic I don't see the point in it being a enforceable rule.

If its to stop scammers then it wont and it doesn't, it doesn't take some one long to post a pic with their username etc and that wont make a blind bit of difference if they decide to send it or not. Seeing the goods your not going to get is as useful as not seeing them.

The picture "rule" is all over the place some threads have them, some don't , some get locked while others are ignored. either make it one rule for all or not at all and then count questions asking for them as bumps. which then leads us down another thread about bumps.

it isnt to stop scammers, it is to stop the continual bumping of thread by people asking for pics, and why some need to ask when 6 others have asked is beyond me too

as for some left and some arent, mods dont read post therefore rely on people reporting them, no reports nothing done, reports and something is done, you know the fs boards rely heavily on other members helping

If it is now a hard and fast rule then there should be a compulsory option when your submitting a thread for pics, much the same way as asking price etc.

If that can't be done then you have to scrap it as it isn't fair as it won't apply to every seller. As you know noobs will get their thread reported for not having pics but longer term members will get away with it. One rule for all or not at all.

As for the bumps then yep but again of its not going to apply across the board then it becomes a mess with some threads beings closed after 30 mins because the bumps have been used up yet a thread selling the same thing will stay open because it just so happens nobody has asked for pics.

yep and if it was up to me then I'd have a wander over to avforums and "borrow" a large portion of how their selling boards work.

As you keep saying, yet people keep banging on about it.

Small wonder new users don't keep to the rules when even seasoned veterans of the forum don't understand them.
