sassie's post is not very clear.

What you require is to set up your custom tabs I believe.

my post is nothing to do with the custom tabs, its to do with default settings

I know that, what I meant was greg didn't understand what you were talking about, so thought it was custom settings.

Could you please change the default settings

to include expired, the amount of threads continually is gettting more and more

What I think you mean is:

Is it possible to change the default settings for HUKD to "Include Expired" instead of "Exclude Expired"?

The reason I ask is because there are so many members starting threads asking "Where has my deal gone" when it gets "Expired".

I'm quite sure that include expired is the default anyway... It has been for ages. :?

I've just cleared all of my cookies in IE and re-visited HUKD and it all seems to be working fine here.

Not my default. I always have to click to include expired.

Ah, I see what you mean. When logged in, it seems to snap back to Exclude Expired for some crazy reason...

new members dont even know how to change the default settings, so it deffo isnt the default setting

The default view definitely seems to exclude expired, not includes, for a number of members. If you log in & you're viewing expired deals it's possibly because you have your options set to that, or the default logged in view is set the opposite to the non-logged in view. It's causing regular problems.

It used to include I seem to remember but it was changed, Admin, some time ago.

Admin, could you please confirm you're willing to change this & let us know it's been actioned as you have at least 3 experienced members on this thread who regularly post < you need to include expired > and also consider not hiding the tools bar as well, as newer members + less frequent posters have no idea it's there.

Thanks, awaiting your feedback.

EDIT : After pondering for a few minutes, the only other possibility I can think of is that when some members see this >

http://i334.photobucket.com/albums/m438/Sigma_Pics/Includeexpired.jpg

They think < include expired > means that they have that option set to include expired, not that you have to click this button if you want to include expired, if that makes sense ie it's a wording issue ?
[admin]#13
It should be set to include expired deals as default. I just checked not logged in on a fresh browser and it was doing so.

Edit: Yes the link is an action link so what it says is opposite of what you currently have.

Mine constantly reverts back to exclude expired, as I never log out I can`t understand why this should happen. It really does drive me mad!
#15
I think that sigma has explained the situation cogently. Each time I log on, the options are as in her screen shot.
I have to click on 'include expired' so the the expired are included. The default is for expired not to be displayed.
This situation means that posts seem to 'disappear' and that is potentially very confusing. Hence the frequent 'Where has my post/thread gone?'.

Are you perhaps using the voucher search box? When you use this, it changes over to exclude expired if you keep on browsing after you use it.

I'm not sure what you guys are doing, but mine stays on include expired all the time (except when i use the voucher search)

Been hunting & have found when this has been reported in the past by two of the long term members >

On the last post of the second thread, benjimoron posted this >

Think this has been a problem to do with my temporary internet files folder hitting it's max limit and therefore not downloading any more info to store, ie a cookie to remember that I want to include expired. Would've thought that windows would warn me that the folder was full rather than just stop storing info without telling me .....

You'd suggested the voucher thing to one of them as well emmajk42, but it wasn't that, so wonder if it's this cookie thing - but that still wouldn't explain why it was jamming on the exclude expired option if it had never been selected & it's not the default. As suggested previously, possibly something the developer could investigate, as it does appear to be happening whether it should or not, thanks

It seems that it's okay when you're logged out on a new browser (it defaults to "include expired") but when logged in the default seems to go to "exclude expired". At least, that's how it seems to be functioning here...

Thanks Emma, that probably explains it, but what a wierd setup, surely settings should stay the same unless I want to change them?
