Many, many threads asking the same thing or about voting cold already - there are valid arguments either way.

In the example you've given though it doesn't really apply as the person has voted cold and given a reason which if valid I agree with. Five pounds off is not really a discount of interest if it only brings the prices in line with other companies, I don't think a 'discount is a discount'

i know john but as i stated in my OP i dont think just this member had the voting power to cancel my own +9 so others voted cold and didnt give reason

It everyone had to give a reason it would discourage people from voting cold as such loads of deals would remain lukewarm or even hot whereas usually they would be cold as most people would only bother giving heat

The only fair way would be to make user give a reason every time they give heat or make something cold

Doing that though would mean that most people wouldn't bother voting on deals as it would take too long to write a comment each time and as such the heat a deal does get would not be an accurate description as it would be based on less voters

No system is perfect, it's works as it is now and 99% of the time a good deal ends up hot and a bad one cold. What more can we ask for?

You say you're not singling out this person but then you do proceed to single them out, you're not making a very good point by focussing so closely on that deal. I've had a quick look around and to be honest the user seems to be entirely correct, that site seems to be selling at srp which means even with the voucher they are still about five pounds more expensive than other companies. When a company is more expensive than other it has nothing to do with personal opinion.

Ultimately as the person mentioned above, hot deals go hot and cold deals go cold - while initially there is some flux, it balances itself out.

Others probably had the same reason........you don't want a thread packed with comments all saying the same thing.

It was voted cold for an obvious reason - it wasn't a good deal. Why don't you research before posting instead of moaning about people voting cold.

Your deal gets voted cold and you post this WHY ? GET OVER IT.

When I saw the following thread...
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/232612/thundercats-complete-series-1-12dvd/
which is clearly hot, it was in the minuses.

Everyone who;s posted has said it;s hot.
Please let's mkae it so that everyone who wants to vote cold needs to give a reason!

Like I have said in the other thread, a system of leaving a comment if voting cold wouldnt be a good idea.

'People then wouldnt vote cold, and we may see rubbish deals appearing on the front page. I myself, even though I have been here ages, sometimes vote cold on a deal, and not comment, for example, if someone posts a dvd thats cheaper elsewhere, and another member has already explained that in the thread, I would vote cold, but there wouldnt be any reason to make a post saying the same thing again, as the poster may feel intimidated or disheartened, especially if a new member, imagine 20 or so people voting cold, and we had a system that made you leave an explaination, we may end up with pages of 'sorry cheaper elsewhere' on the thread - not very nice for the OP.'

I know I have given an example of when a deal is clearly cold anyway, but the same would apply on a deal that should be hot, I just dont think the system would work.

I saw a thread today where someone asked why it was cold..............i explained i hadn't voted but it could be because of xxxxxx etc and got abuse for it.

I won't bother in future............my cold vote will go -9 without a comment.

Maybe this suggestion should be answered as part of a FAQ - it seems to pop up every couple of weeks......shame we don't have sticky's anymore otherwise it could be a sticky.

There was also this thread posted a day or so ago
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/232156/deals-that-are-voted-cold
which is a slight variant of this one...

Well the whole idea of this site is HOT DEALS, if it is cheaper somewhere else then that person should post a link at the very least - then we can all get the best deal!

The comments should be constructive critisism at worst, but not the negative comments you are suggesting.
If an OP doesn't like the fact that someone else found a better deal then it's not something to cry about - they should hopefully learn from it....

If a deal is being voted cold because someone pointed out that it is cheaper elsewhere then couldn't the OP change the title or the link to point to the new deal???

If this thing has been done to death and people keep complaining then why aren't admin doing anything about it?

Because the majority of us on here don't really care that much? If I see something good on here i'll buy it cold or not.
#18
Well if something is getting voted cold because there a better deal out there but the people voting cold don't tell anyone, that means you wont be any the wiser and go ahead and take up the deal, so you end up losing...

And how do you know if the majority of us don't care? Have you done a survey amoungst the whole of HUKD?
Why do you think so many people complain?

people wouldnt even really put a reason in they would jst write something silly like CAUSE or words to that effect
