Nah I think foreign places are good as long as they deliver here for no extra costs with they do. Ordered 3 things all arrived 1 thing was broke which they offered to replace straight away think it was me that broke it though :giggle:
#4
I have ordered some cracking deals from them and they are a really fast delivering company, no probs whatsoever and really safe as you pay through paypal!
#5
I think they're fantastic, I haven't ordered anything from them in a while though.
#6
great company, delivery within 7 days.

If you can buy it - its a UK deal - but I understand your point. Obviously ok though - as admin has a thread going for an iphone from the US and "rip off Britain".

Deal extreme are fine. Used them about 6 times, though still waiting for one low value item from last order.

If we don't know of the merchant we ask people to post in here for feedback.

The iPhone thread is not really similar to be honest (first of all because it's a good example of why we don't generally allow foreign merchants...read the whole thing) as it is on a very hot and in demand item that is not generic and not available currently in the UK. A closer example to that thread was the threads about obtaining a Wii from Germany when they were oos here and more expensive.

I dont recall a thread in here about the merchant you posted of :?

Personally i think if you expect this forum to run itself by members, eventually, you should really have rules that are rules, not rules that bend to suit the post or poster

Apple? You've never heard of them?

Apple? You've never heard of them?

deal extreme you never heard of them? And after my sarcasm, i didnt realise it was now about the foreign company being heard of, i thought it was about there feedback, oh tell ya what, its your site admin which is fine, and i cant even be bothered to discuss this with someone who changes the goals to suit
[admin]#12
sassie - well if we're this far apart in how we think of the site running then yeah we probably can't discuss this. I don't think a thread on Apple is needed anymore than when HUKD members were buying Wii's from Amazon.de that we needed a thread for Amazon.de.

Dealextreme is obviously not Amazon or Apple or Dell league and yes there is going to need to be feedback from members on them.

Second, as noted the Apple post as well as Amazon.de postings were for non-generic items that were not available in the UK. There's a difference between listing a site for deals on generic items available here in the UK and items like a Wii or iPhone which are not.

And to get it at that price you also had to use another well known company too, that so many posters where happy about about using (on your say so alone) due to its companies reputation and feedback................not
#14
am i missing something here?

sassie you asked in the other thread about deal extreeme (*hadnt seen that before i posted my first post here) and on that thread you was advised to start a feedback thread.

you have done that and a few people are starting to post there opions, but then you go off on one and throw your toys out the pram.

wheres the few :giggle: oh you mean admin, not throwing anything, this is called comments, suggestions, and critism, i think all my posts cover all three, and yours? ;-)

hmm again we must be seeing different things as i see 6 or 7 diferent people posting so far, and they was actualy posting positives for which i thought you would have been glad.

shall we ask for another title to be included, coments, sugestions, critism and waaaaaaaaaaaaa i cant be botherd to discuss it its your site you do as you like :whistling:

just to also add, i have actually recently orderd from deal extreme, all was showing in stock but when the parcel arrived i only received 1 out of 3 items, with a note to say the other 2 was on back order. whilst i apreciate they sent the items in stock at no exrta cost to myself straight away they should have ben more on the ball with the stock status. the 2nd parcel was shipped about a week after and am just awitng delivery of it now.

run it past a few (oops sorry i mean admin) probably already planned in the up date :giggle: you could always start your own thread too ;-)
#18
I've just received my first order from Deal Extreme (7 days from order including a weekend) everything in order and as described so I'm voting for their inclusion in the merchant list.

anything on whether this company has been ok'd to be listed as a merchant yet? not sure how long these things take
[admin]#20
I think there's enough positive feedback and people using it to post good offers for it. The bar is higher though for these sites do remember! as it is more risk so has to be a really good offer etc.

what do you mean, the bar is higher?:?
#22
Think Admin means because of the risks of VAT, duty and customs problems.

No, Admin means the STANDARD of deal should be much higher.

e.g. if a 100% trusted merchant has it for £100 and deal extreme has it for £97 we may as well stick with the one we trust, that isn't affected by customs charges and that has to follow UK rules on distance selling.

So yeah, we're accepting them. But we want them to be EXCEPTIONALLY HOT deals. :-D
banned#27
yes i thought that was what you meant, not really worth the time posting on them then really, i always thought it was the members that voted what was hot, it seems that maybe this isnt the case for all deals

It is the members who vote, the standard of the merchant Deal Extreme needs to be maintained at a higher level if we're to continue to accept or allow posts for them.

maybe you could lean on the caution of catalogue companies that seem to be getting very bad rep on here, rather than leaning on those that have none yet

deal extreme sell small items, gadgets etc, etc, so to make a post with a massive saving is gonna be a little hard, but posting stuff that is a little cheaper and easier to get isnt going to be as hard
[admin]#30
Thanks GAVINLEWISHUKD and duckmagicuk - that is what I meant.

I think if it's a great deal then sure but if it's posting small items for fractionally less than a domestic merchant then it's not really recommended.

yes i thought that was what you meant, not really worth the time posting on them then really, i always thought it was the members that voted what was hot, it seems that maybe this isnt the case for all deals

There's still a standard of deal that has to be met. No-one wants the forums filled with nonsense So yes generally speaking it's up to voting to put it straight but there's always other factors to make sure the forum isn't filled with chaff
[admin]#31

We do. We've been warning members about stacking and pulling massive stacking threads for over a long time. search for posts by Admin and you'll find warnings about this from three years ago.

Is anyone else having trouble getting on their website today?

/edit

Never mind, it's apparently down for maintenance.

Ordered a Sony PSP LCD display.

Delivered about 10 days later, a jiffy bag with a small bof with the LCD in it.

LCD is second hand all fingerprint marks and broken.

Dealextreme say, send it back and when we get it back they will send another.

Rubbish, never again, should have just paid an extra £10 and got it in the UK, kids are now off on hols. for a week with no PSP.

Of course the iPhone is from Apple though the unblocking info and postage info was a little misguided!

Deal Extreme have been mentioned in 100s of threads here now - and nothing bad that I can recollect. Everything has been positive. (Apart from the one directly above thats now appeared in between posting this!)

Ive personally ordered from them about 6 times and each time the goods arrive quicker than expected, in good shape and happy with the prices and goods supplied.

Not really sure what else to say when you ask for feedback? I'm sure others can give you similar accounts. They are not bad guys - but there is an abundance of bad guys that are allowed despite the negative feedback! (eg Blah, Littlewoods etc")

Not sure what you mean here?

"The standard of the Merchant needs to be higher!"? Is there some disripute here about them? But given what you have suggested above, it begs the question why several online stores havent been banned if this really is the criteria!

Still no replacement and no replies from Dealextreme.

So I'm now out for the PSP LCD as well as the postage to return this.

OK, I understand your frustration regarding this order, but please remember that DX are closed at weekends! In my many orders with this company I have never had a problem, maybe I have been lucky! They are not the Amazon of China, (infact they are a little shop). My experiences have always been positive, despite the language problem & they are the first to conceed that they have problems which they are addressing. As a suggestion have you tried http://www.consoleparts4u.co.uk/psp-parts-12-c.asp. Not sure about shipping costs but looks like only £6.00 more. I would be very suprised if DX did not refund your return postage costs. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip, might have to use this company or just go to ebay for a replacement.

Realise that DX are not open 24/7 but they don't even reply to emails any more after more than 2 weeks!

Looks like they are off my "list" but glad to hear that you have not had any problems.
