I've been away. Will respond at some point today with a way forward.

Thanks ... it always seems to be yourself (or Sigma) that responds .... apologies because I don't understand HUKD setup or roles and responsibilities but doesn't anyone cover for you when you're off? Seems a bit rough if everything's left for you when you get back :(

If it is an admin query, between Sigma and I we'll usually acknowledge/respond and then check in with the admin team before coming back with a response or some further thoughts. It is better keeping it between us than having a whole load of speculatory comments from other team members.

So yeah, Amazon. It should be the delivered price. They have so many delivery options but I think it is easier to just give the price for First Class postage as long as the item cannot be delivered on Super Saver Delivery (free) for everyone (not just Prime members).

There might be occasions where an "add-on" item can be added to eliminate the delivery cost and make the total amount cheaper but I think for the sake of making everything clear for everyone, it just needs to be the delivered cost but the thread could contain the tips/tricks to bring the price down if a member wants to add this info in.

Any thoughts?

Just looked at the various postage costs and you're right it is a minefield! It's not even that straightforward for 1st Class!

Firstly this only applies to items under £10 from or fulfilled by Amazon as anything over that would normally attract free delivery anyway (3rd party sellers already show delivery). I also think that this is primarily about single item purchases and normally CD/DVD/Blu Ray/Video Games/Books or Computer Accessories.
.
Looking at 1st class delivery rates there appears to be a 'per item' cost and a delivery cost that need to be added together. The most common items would therefore be:

Music/DVD/Blu Ray .......................... £1.49
PC/Video Games .............................. £2.03
Books .............................................. £2.75
Computer/Electronic/Photo ................ £3.99

The other categories are really expensive:

£6.01 for DIY & Tools item / Groceries / Health and Beauty / Hobbies, Sports & Leisure / Home & Garden item / Jewellery & Watches / Musical Instruments item / Office Products

£3.49 for Clothing, Shoes & Bags

£3.30 for Baby / Car & Motorbike / DIY & Tools accessory / Home & Garden accessory / Musical Instruments accessory / Office Product accessory / Pet Products / Software / Toy / VHS

I can appreciate that it will be a difficult job ensuring that the correct postage is applied but hopefully you can see that some items will be quite a bit more expensive (and not as competitive) once delivery costs are added.

There are a number of 'Add on' items appearing as deals, in my opinion these are no different than the 'under £10' deals being posted.

Sorry if my comments are not much help or they state the obvious!

Whilst I don't completely agree with you, I appreciate your point. Companies such as Currys, Argos etc that guarantee they have the lowest price on items for home delivery only then add a huge chunk of "delivery" c

That's exactly my point. Take the case of the 84p cable - If I could walk into a shop and pick it up or have it delivered free then it's a good deal. However if I have to spend a further £5 odd to qualify for free delivery then it ceases to be such a good deal.

is delivery not supposed to be specified in the title?
Loads of things wrong on here at the moment, a couple of years ago mods would regulary correct errors like this, but rarely see them bother now.

Saw a deal earlier for a soundbar from tesco for £40, it was something like £44 then you bought 2 dvds, then used a new customer code to get £10 off, so the deal is the voucher, that would have been spammed a couple of years ago, loads of stuff like that.

Delivered price should always be in the title, yes. Sometimes it will get missed or not picked up right away so feel free to report threads if they need a quick review.

I'm just looking at the Amazon stuff as we had a discussion about this a while ago. Which is why the "free with Prime or over £10 spend" is usually found in these titles.

surely the delivery charge should be too though? The screwdrivers should be +£3.30 postage, makes a pretty big difference to the price.

You said that delivered prices should always be in the title, if someone wants to purchase the item posted without making the total order up to £10 then they will have to pay delivery. So in these cases shouldn't the title state that the item costs £x including delivery costs or £x if purchased as part of an order that is eligible for free delivery.

Is your non reply because you have dismissed my argument or are you still thinking about it?

The deal is... Buy an item for x amount and then buy other items (you might not even have wanted) at an additional cost to get free delivery ..... or
Buy the item on its own and pay an additional delivery cost of x amount.

The fact is that it is not free delivery unless you buy additional goods so therefore the delivery cost should be shown.

Or, regarding the Amazon examples, if you're a Prime member, it is what it is.

As long as it's clear there is a delivery charge to be paid, and the OP mentions it, then it's fine.

For example, CPC requires a £6 minimum order. Nearly every hukd member knows this, but for those that don't, as long as it says it in the title or description, then I don't see the problem.

That's exactly my point ... It's starting to get ridiculous now. items are being posted for 84 pence without delivery charges because it's free delivery over £10. What if you don't want to spend £10 and just want the item for 84 pence?

Marks and Spencers offer free delivery for orders over £50 so is it ok in future to post deals for M&S for low price items and not include delivery costs using the excuse that it's free delivery if you spend over £50?

Delivery costs need to be taken into consideration when weighing up (and voting) on deals, stating that an item will be delivered free if you spend over a certain amount is misleading.

I think we are in agreement ... the point is the Amazon orders don't show delivery, in the example I gave initially there was an HDMI cable for 84 pence, it's a good deal but maybe not such a good deal when you have to add delivery costs if you don't want or need to spend another £9.16 to make the order up to £10.

My point is that if an item posted does not qualify for free delivery when purchased on it's own then delivery charges should be shown.

I would appreciate a response jay ... I don't know whether your hands are tied and you've been told to ignore me and hope I go away but your refusal to comment is frustrating to say the least. I think my point is valid, if you take the time to read my summary below I cannot see how you could possibly disagree. Amazon have a delivery charge for items under £10, if you post a deal for an item under £10 then delivery charges should be included.

Whether it's £10 or £14 the point is if you want to buy something for £5 you will need to pay delivery costs unless you're willing to increase your order.

I think once we've hit a routine/pattern (moderators and members) it will make it easier as we go. Plus anyone familiar with Amazon will know most of the tips/tricks to reduce the delivery spend anyway.

At the moment, as you've already pointed out, no exceptions should be made just because their delivery process means more thought is needed. As with all deals, the delivered price is the price.

Leave it with us to get going on this and i'll pop back when I can with some examples or further information.

Thanks jay
