Thank you for your post. I've checked & there is an earlier existing post by another member for this same offer & it's that post that can be bumped, rather than relisting another Duplicate.

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/453419/3-months-free-membership-national-t/

I think there has been some confusion over which post remains. Hope that helps clarify the situation.

I thought reposts (if the previous thread was over one month old) were allowed?

Some guidelines for a repost are:

1. If the product has dropped in price by at least £1.00
2. If a thread is at least one month old.
3. If specific changes or information for a product has increased its value.
4. If the product goes out of stock, expired and you are unable to back order it, but it has been restocked within at least one week.

different deal completely, the one I opened was for 40% cash back and with topcashback, this one is for 20% and with quidco :(
[mod]#4
Because it is the same ongoing offer for the National Trust, in this case after a review it was decided to keep the original listing. There are a number of similar posts which involve the same type of ongoing voucher code / subscription offer where we'll keep the original thread as a repost isn't required.

Also cashback offers aren't included in deals, so we compare the actual deal listing (3 month subscription) not the various cashback offers available. Thanks.

cashback from any source shouldnt come into the equation

well still disappointed, this could have been a very hot deal that no one knew about and the charity would have been happy as well but if thats the rules then its a poor process.

on csimans comments, loads of people take a deal due to the cash back involved you just have to look at the quidco £20 deal from last year to see that. Dont use top cash back myself prefer quidco but at the end of the day someone would take this out when they wouldnt normally do and this would help the charity which needs all of the cash they can get.

If you vote on the original listing it will help push its temperature towards the 'Hot' page & if you post in the thread it will bump that thread to the top of the 'Misc' tab. The listing is there & you can still promote the good cause on the existing thread.

yeah I know but we dont want to have duplicate deals all being posted with different cashback sites used in each deal. Its bad enough already with people using littlewoods vouchers to post zillions of LW deals using the same voucher.

it would ruin the site, hence why your post was removed I reckon

they might take it because of it, however no cashback is 100% guaranteed and thus cannot be deemed part of the 'deal' per se.

the deal has to be good enough without the cashback, as the cashback is not guaranteed, it is fine to add the cashback into the post, it is annoying when all the catalogue codes for new users are added into the deal, without that it isnt a great deal so same thing really

Does this now mean the one month rule has gone and rather than repost all the original deals should now be bumped or does this new ruling only apply in this case as the original deal involves quidco?

This.

But as cashback offers aren't included in deals (see post #5) it shouldn't matter if the previous deal involved Quidco. Can't see any reason why it couldn't be reposted tbh, it's what the rules say to do (as the old thread was over a month old)
[admin]#14
It's an ongoing deal. It's not even like the price went up and down or it went in and out of stock.

I think the move to misc was fair. As said you can bump up the other thread etc.

EDIT: I took the quidco out of the title. Happy?

neither do half the deals posted, this place as usual makes up the rules as they go along, and you wonder why members get ****** with you

But in the rules for posting deals, it states that a repost is okay if a thread is over one month old (which in this case it was) :?

sorry no, i use hotdeals to find out the best deals around, including cash back as said previously only use quidco so wouldnt use the deal myself but to find the best deals I need to know about them and thus if a new thread couldnt be posted then I would miss this.

Sure I search but spur of the moment deals like 40% off National Trust would make me think of taking up the offer at that time, if I was signed up to that cash back site.

I agree rules are needed but in this case I think we were up to around 50 degrees on both threads and it would have been hot and the National trust would have had more people sign up so not only are the customers happy but so are they. Now I am not happy, lots of people have missed the offer and national trust have missed out on some much needed cash :(

so again does this now mean the one month rule is no longer and threads should just be bumped rather than reposted?

This hasn't stopped moderators on the site resposting a deal when the product has remained the same price and in stock for over six months with several deal reposts already with the justification being the last of the original deals were over a month old. Has this policy now changed?

If you ignore cashback the deals are similar but the free gifts are different which makes it a valid deal post IMHO. (I'd rather have a pair of binoculars than a cool bag :) )

The issue of no price variation or no variation of stock is irrelevant. Whether this is a "hot" deal or just the regularly price is up to the members and the way they vote.

Its understandable that the mods thought this a duplicate but the fairest option is to move it to deals and let the members decide if its hot or not....
