Generally speaking, off topic comments in FS will be removed by the mod team... I agree with you partly, some people do go too far, but the majority are just trying to extract more information about the item for sale, either because the listing isn't clear enough or the seller is an unknown member.

There are a lot of scammers out there and therefore a lot of very paranoid browsers/buyers...

My opinion is that there is such thing as "Healthy Discussion" when people could potentially be parting with large amounts of cash, you can't banish people from making comments as any con artists would have a field day.... but if the comment is seen to be off topic or nasty, then that little "report" button should be clicked- the admin team will take a look and remove anything deemed to be problematic or unnecessary :)

I'd second Juliet Bravo's post; apart from anything else, there is a post stating that this seller has sold 8 so far.

Now selling 8 on Ebay before posting in here to sell one appears to me to be a business activity.....which is banned by the forum rules. Also you must remember that posters (old hands) are protective of newer members....paying full RRP plus delivery plus paypal fees on the basis of 'a receipt' is not the same as buying a brand new one from a shop. Why shouldn't members look out for each other and point out that someone would be better off actually buying from a shop?

Precisely- and if anyone sees a listing that they don't think adheres to forum rules, they should say so and hit the report button.

Yup- the only way we can have a safe trading enviroment is by communicating, looking out for eachother, and yelling when we see a shark :) Any decent person, or anyone who has ever been ripped off will agree that if the seller has nothing to hide, then they won't mind a few enquiries from other members.

Honestly, it's up to the original poster to report any posts they consider thread spoiling.

(EDIT - I'm not talking about pointing out scamming and things, I mean if people start saying I can get this at my local flea market for blah blah etc)

How many items do you need to sell to be classed as a business?

I've sometimes taken a look in the FS threads and if i see something which can be bought elsewhere for a cheaper price then i'll say so. This website is about finding good deals for buyers. Its not about lining the pockets of sellers. If someone wants to sell something at a profit or above the rrp then personally they should go to fleabay.

Just my opinion.

What you are talking about is not thread spoiling, and is allowed.

Have another read of the original post.:)

Ues andy, that is allowed, providing you post a link to where you can source the item at a cheaper price.

Saint-How many would you actually have at home unused to sell? Or is the FS section happy to have Delboys trading goods with no guarantees on a consumer hot deals website? Fleabay is bad enough.....even classified ads say that traders must declare themselves...& is this a free site for traders?

Since this is a community site I don't think anyone should banned from posting unless they are interested in the item - most are genuinely doing it to help others out. One thing which annoys me is when people add the most ridiculous prices on. There was something a few weeks ago when someone stated a price, added paypal fees, added postage, added packaging, added petrol to the post office, added the cost of their time...I didn't say anything as I wasn't interested in the item so it wasn't my place to contest their fees but I can see why that sort of thread would be spammed.

It is rude to answer a question with a question(Without 1st answering the question posed to you). :)

To be honest, I didnt see your post as a genuine question (hence my sarky reply). But the points he has made (and turned into questions) are completely valid.)
Do you agree?
