I find discussed takes me to the most controversial deals, or ones where lots of information is being shared. I think it rated on the latest post, and assume that is what bumping is about. Maybe if a thread is just started it's the latest thing being discussed even if nobody has replied?

If I have it all wrong this may at least generate some more replies

When the deal is first posted, I think this counts as the first discussion

Yes so in a list of most discussed it should be in the list in about 50,000th place?

you will find it gets overtaken its just there because it has not long been posted
#12
I am totally baffled by the replies, I'll give up. Thanks anyway lol

It's not in a list of most discussed, it's in a list of last discussed

new deals are classed as 'discussed' the minute they are posted thats why you see one with no replies in the discussed list but not for long, they quickly get overtaken with the next deal that has a reply in it  whats to be baffled about :?

So, it will be *exactly* the same as the "New" tab list then. I doubt it mate but thanks.

Ok so the difference between "new" and "discussed" tabs is...

Bearing in mind some have no replies at all in the discussed tab list

new is in order of the original posting of the deal and will stay where it is in the new list regardless of people posting in it, it will always be in order of THE ORIGINAL POST

discussed (including newly posted deals) is in the order of THE LAST COMMENT POSTED (obviously in respect of the new deals that classes as a comment)
#21
lol ok

Wouldn't the most number of replies at number 1, the second largest number of replies at number 2 etc etc make a more useful "discussed" tab, as that is how discussions are.

no because that would mean you could have a first page full of threads that have 1000 + posts from a year ago that are totally irrelevant but there because they have the most posts
[admin]#23
It works like a traditional forum - i.e. the most recently discussed which counts either a comment timestamp or post timestamp.

A lot of people like using it as it shows what is "bubbling" at the top as well as what is new.
#24
Saw this is in discussed, seems to be useful to me.

For what its worth,im with you on this...baffled why some items with zero coments are so far up the list, unless as has been said, listing them counts as a comment?
I was hoping a moderator might have enlightened us all??
[admin]#26
It's been answered a few times in here but basically a new post counts as a new comment.

I think you need to change from Administrator to moderator......until a moderator answers they wont be happy:thumbsup:

New is good for the deals forum and FS/FT, Discussed is good for misc and feedback.

Does this thread really exist?

maybe you could work through a few of the other threads in feedback that cant be answered by members, it seems pretty pointless posting anything worthwhile ion feedback when the best you can do is answer tivial threads like this whilst ignoring anything that is worthwhile

This really isn't rocket science:

New Tab: Displays deals/threads in the order that they were posted from newest to oldest. New deals/threads appear at the top. The number of replies that a deal/thread has is irrelevant.

Discussed Tab: Displays deals/threads in order of the last time a post was made in them, from most recent to oldest. Topics most recently posted in appear at the top. Posting a new deal counts as a post, which is why new deals with no replies appear at the top.

And just for the abundance of clarity; the discussed tab does not display the most discussed threads. It displays the most recently discussed deals.

EXAMPLE: When I post in thread, it will appear at the top of the Discussed tab until somebody posts in another thread. If I was to make a new thread immediately afterwards, that thread would appear at the top of both the New and Discussed tabs.
