Seriously?

Such things as 'pretending' you have children to buy software from academic sites.

I add heat to my own deal if somebody (or bodies) votes it cold immediately for no reason that is disclosed in the thread. It is a common courtesy to add a comment, but not mandatory.

If the deal increases in heat naturally I leave it alone.

I've always wondered if some people post deals which are immediately sub-zero ....

You do not need to have children to qualify for software available for Education/Academic purposes.

Software4Students
All school and college students and their family members or guardians living in the United Kingdom are eligible.

An adult without children can be a college student.

The following blog article describes a "loophole" to fraudulently obtain goods originally listed as a deal at HotUKDeals (posted by andywedge) that received 644 degrees of heat before being Expired:

(I have posted within the blog article comments)

The following "deal" is another example that had 431 degrees of heat before it was Expired:

Some members encourage others to vote the deal they listed colder!

But isn't that an example of a 'fun'/ironic deal like the supercar 'deal' of yesterday?

(I can't quite tell how much of 'your' quote I've left in)

I don't think so... at least I don't think the "deal" listing started with that intention but after some 'ribbing' from others the member that created the listing just wanted to let it sink & perhaps gain a notable thread for the 'wrong' reason.

I often wonder what the coldest deal ever was .....

If you post a deal then you are saying you think its a hot deal, so you can show that by adding heat.

Its a bit like saying if you start a petition then you can't sign it because its not ethical.

I personally don't bother voting my own deals hot, but its not for ethical reasons, I just don't.

misunderstood what you said and thought you posted a netbook deal...
example in your own deals is perfect reason why you should vote your own deal hot:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/carte-noir-coffee-200g-6-jars-reduc/823184
i have personally never seen it cheaper in any supermarket - never let a random idiot tell you something and take it as fact! (was cheaper as a 6x100g pack though)
you must at least attempt to overcome the stupidity of others by voting hot.

I can't stand them either, but you asked what the coldest deal ever was and I just linked to what I believe is the coldest ever deal :)

that is neither a glitch or a loophole, it is fraud

I vote my deals hot. I have an opinion as a user, just like everyone else. If I've posted it, I obviously consider it hot, and therefore express my opinion like any other deal.

I don't tend to moan about cold votes either. The serial-cold voters never win if a deal is genuinely hot.

Yep agree VB1, I obviously think my own deal is hot or why would I post it??
