what difference does it make anyway - nothing happens to the main account if you get caught.
Don't even have to pretend to be anyone.

Yep, feel free to take the pee left right and centre ( or should that be center ) with immunity.

Are you saying the site is going down the toilet?

What has changed recently? It used to be the case that two members could not use the same IP address (translation: two people in the same household could not be members), didn't it? Has that this decision been revoked?

Perhaps multi use IP's could be identified in some way, i.e a note somewhere maybe in their profile that said 'This account is IP linked to a.n.other account'

Maybe I'm being paranoid, but is this thread about me?

That's a good idea, greg_68.

I was going to suggest that the site could enforce that every member associated with the new account had to verify the connection before any of those members could continue using the site from that point on, but then I realised that this would just hinder legitimate users & be no hassle to somebody who has created a multiple account (for whatever reason).

I have not had the need to create two accounts. Does anybody know if you can use the same e-mail address for more than one account, or whether this is blocked?

I suspect it is; but in the same household with one Internet connection it may also be common to have a shared e-mail address too.

There isn't a simple answer, as everybody's case will have to be reviewed individually.

BFN,

Well just to clear something up, VB2 doesn't live with me, doesn't share an internet connection with me, and lives in a completely different town on a different ISP.

I do use this site too much, but even I wouldn't go to that extreme to create a multi.

Sorry DCX, but if its me you are talking about, once again, I've made you look like a gimp.

Edit: (directed at all).. are you really so dumb you think a signup called "VB2" doesn't get triple triple ASB approved checked before its allowed to stay? Geeze....

I think you're over-reacting Vibe - there have been 2 high profile accounts recently (with links to relatives accounts) that I've seen......
this one

and there was a kid posted a couple of threads in Misc yesterday or the day before and made references to his mum who is a member......

This wouldn't work, many ISP's have 'pools' of IP addresses, so one user can have a multiple number of IP addresses over a period of time. I've been an administrator on various phpbb forums, and have often seen 6 or 7 users posting from the same IP address over a period of time, certainly not 'multi's' but people not having a static IP address.

Not forgetting people posting from large organisations whilst at work, all having the same IP address.

You could be right gari, and if you are, I apologise - even to DCX. He did make a comment in VB2's thread though about multi's.

I'm thinking i may join in and make a load of them just for fun.

Multiple accounts per household should always request admin(s) clearance. That said, and on a personal view, I'm not 100% sure it's relevant nowadays, unless theirs some sort of collusion going on, e.g. fs/ft or vote manipulation/personal attacks, etc.

VB2 - its a new user who seems to know their way around Misc and their username is based on a regular poster - not surprised people think its a multi. I don't think for a moment its you - that would be way too obvious and you'd rather say something as VB1 and get suspended than use a multi.....
