Does my vote even count?

crum666crum666

When I vote a deal hot the temperature rises from say 9 degrees to 18. When I refresh the page it has fallen back to 9. I've done this enough times to know that somebody hasn't voted it cold in the meantime.

What is the point in voting hot or cold if it doesn't influence the temperature?

The main deal page takes time to update with the new information, sometimes several minutes.

Your single vote doesn't increase temperature that much anyway, usually goes up by 1 degree if I vote hot, sometimes doesn't move, presumably a cold vote coincided.

    This is correct.

Something technical about caching... but your votes are registered.

Your voting power will go up to a max 9 when you get more rep

Not necessarily true... the majority of your voting power comes from the average of your hot deal posts.

Surely can't be that much of a majority, I had full voting power before even posting a deal.

You probably reached that John before they changed the "weightings". High power members used to be able to change deals by 12 degrees but it was all altered a year or so ago.

Yes i find this too even with less popular or older deals i vote hot, it rises 1 degree i then immediatly refresh and its back down again.
