No it's a good idea and one that's been discussed a bit. Two things you can do right now, one is to hit the Spam button and post in the thread that it's a dupe and the second is hit the report triangle on the left of the post which will report it to mods.

The Spam button is the best as if enough members hit it the deal will be removed automatically.

A little unjust for someone who has taken the time to post a good deal, maybe just a report button so it can be merged is the nicer idea

Well if it's caught right away then there aren't any comments to be merged.

Yes, and carry on like that and those that post the great deals will start thinking i wont go to the effort and bother just incase i post 2 mins after someone else :whistling:

But who have maybe not taken the time to search... or perhaps used the front page filters for the merchant. I'm removing so many deals lately because people are creating duplicate posts, and the duplicates are even within the same day.

For example, the Orange broadband deal from PC World aws posted about 12 times in one afternoon last week.

I do understand that some people are incredibly keen and eager to share the deal as soon as possible, but it takes less than a minute to have a quick search.

When you submit a deal it shows the most recent 5 deals for that merchant. If you can't be bothered to look at that....

Maybe there were no previous deals for the merchant you did? If you go to Submit Deal and then choose a merchant you can see the list as the top of the page.

Yes, especially us newbies, my first deal took me forever to post and my second one was not really any quicker  In the time it took me someone could have posted the same deal 30 odd times :giggle:

Ok, I have just had a try of that, yes i see what you mean BUT i put in orange, orange broadband and comet and nothing came up about the broadband offer, i also put orange in the search engine and unless i want to scroll through pages to find it that wasnt of much help either

The one I'm talking about was a PC World deal, and it was right on the front page too :) But that's just one example.... never mind me :)

The ones you can see when submitting a deal, if you click on them they take you to the other deals posted, so you shouldn't have to search if they're posted so close together [time wise that is].

Thanks emma, was not trying to cause havoc, was just thinking out loud that for a newbie to post a deal that may have been posted is no big deal and left would encourage more posts, now i will try and think quieter

Rayman if there have been a few more deal made about that merchant then it will no longer show (im only presuming that)

Perhaps make them a bit bigger. Make them stand out so they will be noticed...
