but it isnt a clickable link then, thats the main thing, more people will click on a link than bother copy and pasting

or if they are smart they will use a tinyurl link ;)

I agree, this ebay censorship is real daft.

That would just encourage people to do more self promotion, you know the "Shall I buy this on E-bay threads" when they are the seller or know the seller.

The question you need to ask for yourself is "Would the forum be better for allowing Ebay links?"

I personally think not.

If members go to the trouble of posting Ebay links by proxy, it is easier to find those that are self promoting, and suspend/ban them

Same could be said about posting the item number. Nothing to block those. Makes little sense in blocking an ebay link per se.

So... If your talking about a specific ebay item, say in China, you cant show people what your talkiing about !

I never bother to open a tab for Ebay, copy and paste an item number into it to see the item, and I bet most others are the same, which is the reason it is implemented?

So, completely different to having a clickable link in a post(which I rarely click either).

Acknowledged, yet subjective at best. No specific reason has ever been officially published on this site as to why ebay links are not allowed and item numbers are allowed.

Maybe subjective, but it's pretty obvious. Not everything needs to be "Official".

Please keep your reply relative to the OP. Your bickering is only spoiling the OP's thread. :whistling:

MB, I completely agree with you 100%. :)

:giggle: thanks not-steven, shame no mods have commented...fact is if anyone is gonna spam they get caught pretty quick. otherwise ebay linkies are used on misc to point out funnies.

why not censor all web addresses on misc...in case someone wants to paste a link to their online shop/business!!

Out of interest, why does the ebay link in this post work?

Maybe because the URL is a shop Blah Blah addy and not e b a y.co.uk etc

Strange thing, this. We can't link to eBay, but Amibees did just run a deal on an eBay Buy It Now product, at http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/415829/boxing-punch-bag-kick-bag-speedball/ . What's going on there?
