Morning Barky :)
The harry potter deal was expired twice. If we were to hand out infractions based on this, we'd be accused of being heavy handed.

If we feel certain members are repeatedly expiring threads for the incorrect reason, then of course we step in.

Think whats bit frustrating re that deal is the amount of heat the OP missed out on - its still hot but would have been even hotter!

Thanks JB for reply-just an idea tho-maybe it should take 2 members to be able to expire, same as it does to spam it?

You can report individual comments within thread though :)

What tosh. If a member expires a deal when it isn't how could you be heavy handed by infracting them? Dont want an infraction, don't expire/spam deals for no reason, simples.
The reason it happens so regulary is that nothing is ever done about it.

What Harry Potter deal?

The expiring thing is a tricky one. I expired something the other day that turned out to still be available but you couldn't get to it through any of the obvious links! I said sorry!

Expiring too early means that really good deals disappear, as described above and then someone else starts a thread, instead of altering or adding to the original ( partly, I think, because they cannot themselves find the original). Like with this camera deal
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/nikon-d60-dslr-camera-with-18-55-le/754483/#post9360499

The deal is still there but better, beibg £5 cheaper, so it has been expired ( unknown reason) and a new thread started. Both threads are hot but the original would have stayed on the front page longer and perhaps to the daily slot on the RHS much better for HUKDers to be able to see a great bargain!

As far as Im concerned whoever expires the deal should post a reason and this and who they are would then be posted in the deal thread.
As far as infractions being heavy handed I dont think so.
Expiring an offer for no good or malicious reasons goes against the entire reason for the site so why not be punished for breaking fundamental rules.

Utter rubbish.

Since when do members state that they "Expire" a deal for reasons other than genuine ones?
The figures might reach double digits before crimbo.

I use the mobile version as well as the desktop, and I often find threads marked expired don't appear on it. Now, that's probably a settings thing (maybe you have to log in through the mobile client to change the view settings), but if that is standard, many people are possibly not seeing these still-valid deals at all...

bad idea

I regularly loads of expired deals yet there are still many many deals showing as unexpired which no-one bothers to expire even though they no longer exist. If it took two members to expire a deal then I just wouldn't bother expiring any at all. I wouldn't bother expiring either if I had to give a reason. LOL - all I would put if forced is "deal no longer exists".

What else do people expect to put in the enforced reason box lol

if i expire by mistake, then I contact a mod to unexpire. Its easy for other members to do the same. Its not like it happens that often and of course persistent offenders should be infracted.

so the simple thing to do then is show on the thread who has expired it.

that way if it is not expired then the expirer will think twice before being such a tool.

fair enough but lets see the "developer" concentrate on the more important 1000 outstanding bugs first

With regards to concentrating on more important matters, csiman - address my PM, otherwise I'll act without further reference.

It's a tricky one because sometimes items go in and out of stock at some places,i've done it myself, expired something and later on it's showing back in stock.

Earlier i asked for those 80p flip flops to be un-expired,no idea why they were expired as some sizes were still available.

Why would they think twice? If they're not bothered about the mods knowing, do you think they care about some forum vigilatntes?
