Expiring soon

caron33caron33

Is there any way that we can filter competitions by the closing date? As I often find that I missed some after being away for a few days. This would be really helpful when trying to catch up.

Interesting. That would actually be not a bad idea to add that to the advanced search. "Order by Expiry date". What do you think? I'll add it to the queue.

Is "Expiry Date" a mandatory field for the creation of threads in the "Competitions" Forum?

No, sorting by expiry date would have to by default exclude those competitions without one. Or put them last.
    caron33
That would be awesome if you could :-)) as I have to scroll through all the pages and I still manage to miss ones.

As I am on a roll - may I be bold to make another suggestion? On the daily/weekly/all hot charts it lists them in order of heat with the heat symbol next to them. If i have already added heat - could this not be displayed by fading out the symbol? Currently I go into each one to check as I often forget which ones I have entered especially when there are multiple comps from one promoter?

I have to say that I am a newbie and love this site for ease of use on both the computer & mobile. Thank you

Putting them last (depending on the ascending or descending order [clause]) may mean they are missed anyway.

Perhaps Competitions could be automatically expired after one month (if an explicit expiry date is not specified).

Many competitions are ongoing, or have longer than a one month shelf-life. I think in general members do a fairly good job of expiring them, it's just making it easier to parse for the end-user which was the concern here, I believe.

:) often we are too quick to critisise and too slow on the thank you's in life..!

Nope web brower doesn't change colour of hyperlinks - so I have been using the heat oO symbol which then shows on the main page and is easier to see.

To add an image (photo), find the address, for example, [ http://www.hotukdeals.com/images/avatars/avatar505920_1.jpg ], copy to your "clipboard", and then click the "Picture [CTRL+P]" icon:

    http://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p490/_fanpages/th_PictureCTRLP.jpg

Paste the address you have in your clipboard to the prompt displayed, & confirm with the [OK] button.

If successful the address of the image will now be enclosed in "img" tags:

    http://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p490/_fanpages/img_tags.jpg

Once the comment has been submitted you should see the image, thus:

"Mozilla Firefox" should show "unvisited" threads in the "Forum Summary" (text only) in bold.

For example, the first five "Competitions" threads, presently:

    http://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p490/_fanpages/Competitions_Unvisited.jpg

...after clicking the first, viewing the content, & returning to the "Forum Summary" (the first thread has now become the second due to a comment being added to another thread):

    http://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p490/_fanpages/Competitions_Visited.jpg

Note that the thread is shown as "visited" by now not being displayed in bold.

    Dehumanization
^ Can't speak for anyone else fp but I use the heat to let me know where I'm upto, (doesn't change colour or anything for me) but I use full view and would hate to use text only it would be much more time wasted on comps as in full view, most of the time you can see the answer without opening it.

Go on... help me a little... please.

My "Forum Summary" is set to "Text only". I am guessing your view is not.

Do you see a (hyper)link for "Text only" (to the right of the "Filter by Store" field & "SHOW:" label)?

If you do, please click that. The order of the ("Competitions") threads shown will be the same just with the title of the thread shown (rather than the title & the first few lines of the thread description).

I find the layout of the competitions a complete sambles. I check them most days and regularly go through up to 20 pages which show comps dated anything from a few minutes to several months ago (or even longer) all jumbled up and including many which expired a ages ago. :3
