nope, nothing, not a thing, nada.....

the hot/cold thing is just a bit of fun, no point in being sensitive to that element of the posting. Post the deal make people aware of the item and price and ignore everything else.

Is there anything that can be done about people falsely influencing the heat on a deal?

I agree that people posting false information in a deal thread isn't useful or helpful - the best thing to do is correct them as soon as you spot their erroneous post. Example

Does it really matter? What would you like to happen? Public execution? Given a couple of hundred degrees of heat as compensation? Seriously dude, its no problem. If its got to you that badly, just go back onto the thread and tell him he's real rotter.

Public execution hmmmmm. I'll get back to you on that.

It's not really about the heat (okay maybe a little bit - never had a hot deal), more about misleading people, possibly causing them to miss a good deal. Getting a bargain should be the goal of everyone on here (and having a bit of a laugh).

Bit harsh on the OP to be honest, its not really false information but a reasonable question, don't think a mod should try and 'win points' in this way.

No malice intended blowbrown - don't think you took it that way (I hope) - added heat to your deal and I reiterate that yes, it's annoying when someone posts (as in the case of your thread) something like 'has bad reviews' but no link (and I can’t find any bad reviews either) and it is also (from what I can find) around £100+ cheaper than other places. My other pet hate is when someone posts ‘cheaper elsewhere’ but doesn’t say where.

In seriousness though I fear that your TV thread has got cold, not because of that first comment, but because I think what happens sometimes is people see a cold deal (temperature wise rather than doing any research into the price)and hit cold because it’s already cold. I’ve seen deals posted on here get to say minus 100 then the exact same product is posted again a month or so later and it gets to plus 100. Sometimes there’s just no rhyme or reason behind how the voting goes.

Absolutely no offence taken Andy. Actually amused me, I wasn't asking the original question to get heat in my deal. It is dead in the water, probably as much to do with not being full HD as Canada's coments. I was just checking if there was any way of removing innacurate comments before they mislead too many people.

I do think the best way of handling innacurate comments is to respond - like you did in the thread and the other member who pointed out that this TV isn't sold at Currys. It is possible that Canada could be mistaking this model for another or it is possible that there is a bad review for it and I'm sure he'll be able to post a link when he revisits the thread. Either way, if we started deleting comments like that then there won't be an option then for member to substantiate his/her comment.

Take a film/bluray/DVD thread for example - you always see comments like 'awesome film' sitting next to 'worst film ever' comments. It boils down to opinion and it usually starts off a good healthy debate in the thread and also gives the members a balanced view ie seeing what other members think.

Or he could be trolling, as he seems quite vocal when his deals get cold votes, maybe just doing to others what people do to him?

It is noticeable that he never provided any evidence to back up his claims and never admitted his mistake when it was proven to be mince (just disappeared.) I have noticed he gets very defensive when anyone is criticising his 'deals'.(might be a Canadian thing ;) ) Never mind life goes on.
