Sorry.

7. Why do links put on the 'go to deal' button sometimes work, and other times don't? Really annoying.

Cos this website adds their own affiliate code to the url.

I noticed that, but why will it only work sometimes? Damn annoying when posting up deals.

Does this site make it's money from these affiliate links then?

Yesterday, I woke up figuring the list that I should put in feedback! Sad but true. It was a lot longer than the OP.

Firefox does better than IE, irritatingly.
#6
Put it up! I know how you feel. It's been bugging me for ages and festering inside of me.

This place needs some constructive feedback, with suggestions which would make it better for users. There's been a lot of blood letting about the changes, little positive. I'm trying to be helpful. Let's just see if anyone bothers to use it.

With regards to number 5, if you press ctrl f, a search bar will open which will allow you to search for a word on a page. Works in IE, don't know about other browsers.

I guess you're right but even I know there is no chance of such a search ever happening on here so it's better than nothing.

All is well here apart from the fact I am now nocturnal lol. How about yourself, not seen you about much. You not posting as much?

Was thinking of you during recent meteor showers. We should rename you starman. :P

In what way can quotes be changed to make it easier to read? Seems fine to me.

How do you do that? I can only find 'simple/detailed' modes.

The quote thing seems to work better on other forums when there's a clearer physical divide, eg line, between the quotes. The problem with the current system is that you often have to think a bit to make sense of what's going. I'm all against having to think! I have to do of that elsewhere.....
#12
I should also add:

8. I the small grey bars http://www.webpagescreenshot.info/img/326171-1142011103833PM . Please can we have a return to how long ago the last post was made please? I really don't care when the deal was found (I can find that out from the date of the OP), and I really dont' care how long ago it was made hot.

Many thanks! It's a bit odd that that option isn't available in the Custom tab. I had to go to one of the other tabs, then select, then switch to Custom. Another thing which could be improved?

PS. Don't the current quotes start confusing you by now? ;)

nope - used to it I suppose but agree that the line idea makes a lot of sense

I'm glad you see what I mean!

A search in thread would be really useful though.

? Set posts to 60 per page (most deals would then fit on one page I think) then F3 for search page box.

Still not the same in 50 page threads....

Still not the same in 50 page threads....

I dont think you;ll find any that long (3000+ posts!)

I just use CTRL and F to search a thread (after using firefox autopager addon to pre-load all the pages in a thread e.g. CTRL + ALT + 0 will load 10 pages so I just press that say 3 times to load up the first 30 pages in a thread).

See post 10 for a screenshot showing autopager at work

Great in the morning as I just go to page 1 and press CTRL + ALT + 0 five times quickly and by the time my coffee is made I have 50 pages of threads loaded up :D

BTW, works on most sites like ebay, google search etc etc

I can live with any of the changes they make but i think by far the worse thing is the sheer number of morons in threads now......it's worse than ever.

If they could fix that it would be ideal.

Excuse me but I was here long before the changes :D

#1: Why are no images showing? Do you have them turned off with adblocker or something? The 'dead' space is there because the vertical height is held by an image of the item.

#2: I'd recommend using the m.hotukdeals.com version on your smartphone. There are a lot of links you may click accidentally on the full site with a small screen.

#3: I agree the voucher display is not very nice.

#4: There's no ideal way to display multi-quotes as no matter what they take up a lot of screen real estate with redundant info. It is probably best for posters to quote only the part of the post they are responding to and thus keep it to only a few sentences.

Do you remember the suggestion I made in the original "bug" thread (or was it the second one) on 22 July 2010?

Thanks for the reply. I must admit it didn't occur to me to think about adblocker. All my browsers use some version.
I must admit I'm much happier now I'm using 'text only'. It answers points 1 & 2.

So remaining:
3. Tidying up 'vouchers' in full title mode.
4. Making the quote system much more like fanpages suggested.
5. Search in thread possible. The work around is not exactly ideal. Other forums manage it without a problem....
6. Posting links the OP.
7. Why do HUKD affiliate links stuff things up? (and an explanation if this is how HUKD is funded please!)
#28
Nice list of suggestions from the OP, i've tried giving constructive feedback in the past and sometimes 1 or 2 of the criticisms eventually gets fixed... :/
Good effort though.

Agree with the morons being more apparent lately... I requested comment up/down voting a few times hoping it would solve this issue, but **** knows if it'd work.

Here's the only post of mine i can find on this subject, think my previous one must have been removed or spammed by one of the numerous idiots at some point (as some of my other threads have)
http://www.hotukdeals.com/feedback/individual-comment-up-down-voting-a/823472

Here's another similar post that gets into a deeper discussion of that type of feature:

Edit: I also hate how ninja edits have the "edited by:" text in there now. You used to be able to edit within 2 minutes without getting that message affixed

Interesting idea! I think fanpages covers the ups/downs quite well. In principle, the idea of 'most helpful posts' sounds great, and would certainly add value to mega-long threads as you suggested.

Think it would clearly be one of the best features that could possibly be added, hope it eventually does get added.

The risk of disjointed convos could easily be countered i think...

You'd have the normal thread discussion stay exactly the same as it is now, with no posts taken out of order.

The only thing that would change is "helpful/highly upvoted" comments would be duplicated and placed in a special area just below the OP. Each helpful comment could have a link beside it linking to its original place in the thread to see the discussion around it.

There's still then the risk of idiots hijacking comment up/down voting the way they sometimes seem to hijack deal voting and thread commenting though, so yeah...

Could prob fix that by having tough conditions to meet before you have the ability to up/down vote comments.

Maybe tie it in to needing a certain status badge before you can up/down vote comments, and that status could be easily revoked if you're promoting stupid comments like "PHWOARRR, WOULDN'T MIND TAKING THAT LINGERIE OFF" etc.

Maybe a button for mods only that issues a quick infraction to everyone that promoted a frivolous comment to the "helpful comment" stage, 3-5 infractions and your comment voting status is suspended.
Maybe that's overcomplicating it, but i think the basic idea is really worth doing.
