Loving the hot box :)
#3
Yeah, the hot box is nice!! Note - that it only shows active deals though - old hot expired ones will not appear in there. And if you see any on your travels that should be expired, please expire them as you go along. Thanks!
[admin]#4
Few notes: (1) the formatting of the find posts by member may change yet as it's not too flash (2) the hottest box should remember your selection - like "Month" but right now it is bouncing around.
#5
P.S> Thanks to "developer", the find posts by user is very handy for general forum moderation... !
#6
The find threads by member is excellent, looks a bit weird, but it does what it should.

Thanks Admin.

This was my number one bugbear with the site.
#7
Woohoo! Thanks to everyone involved in bringing back the search for posts facility.
#8
Nice one. Could I suggest perhaps including the most discussed topics when you view in the requests, misc or feedback section in the 'hottest deal' box (seems daft just have a message saying no hot deals in this section).
#9
...and even "Unanswered deal requests" in deal requests showing 5 random unanswered threads from the last 14 days, or 30 days... or the 5 latest unanswered.

i used to be able to track the threads i commented in and to see if they'd been updated. now i have a list of all the comments i've made. can i still track my threads the old way? if that makes sense.

Go to your control panel, at the top of the page. CLick "edit options" on the left. Make sure your subscriptions are set to "no email". Then you can keep track of all threads you have posted in through that same control panel link. Hope that helps.

The hot boxes are great but I must be doing something wrong with the other update.
I click on find posts and I just get a random selection of posts in no real order and in a different format to normal.
Help for a dummy please :)

I see this:

I think they are in reverse chronological in order of posts. It looked different before I did a forced refresh though (Ctrl+F5) . Admin has work to do on the formatting there, as far as i know :)

EDIT - no I think they are actually in a funny order for me too.

EDIT EDIT - I know what it is - each thread has a grouped set of posts from that thread. So you see one thread title, with all posts in order in that group. You follow?

Well that works for you emma so it must be me.

Off to find out what I'm doing wrong................................................

(thanks for the help BTW :) )

Thanks again emma.
I think I see where I was getting confused. It actually lists all the posts in that one thread you've made rather by the chronological order I was expecting.

Does that make sense?
#17
lol I should have scrolled up before replying......................

easy to catch me out at 3am y'know :)
#18
Yep, that sounds like it :)
#19
Not sure whether that's how it was intended though as won't it will make things rather messy and difficult ??

Anyway it's too late/early, I'll doze on it, lol.

Must make it hard for you guys to use also though Emma ??

I gotta say I don't like the new find threads by certain members update. I use it to find my own posts and if you have commented many times in one thread then that just fills up the whole search page. It also doesn't give you any indication of when the last reply to the topic was. I prefer the list of all the topics that I had commented on and the last time they had a reply.
#21
yeah, that's what i was meaning sdavi. i liked seeing all the threads i had comments in and i could see if they'd been updated. now i have a list of my comments which i dont need.

edit......but now if i click under control panel after i did that thing emma suggests it appears to show them how it used to under there, i think.

Is it possible to have an option to remove the Hot Box altogether? It's taking 1/3 of my browser screen length. I'd rather see the thread titles longer than having the box. Some people, like myself, don't really need to know what the hottest deals are as we browse through the main pages of the forums to see what we are interested in.

Damn the word association game! Damn it!

The Hot Box isn't displaying correct for me at work (does at home). Using IE6 at work, IE7 at home.

Even with a forced refresh (CTrl+F5?) ?

Along with "Round 'em all up & shoot every last one of 'em!!?!" & "HUKD Pub - The place where everyone knows your name" .....makes the "find more posts by....." feature virtually unuseable!

Our comeuppance for spamming i suppose :whistling:

Yes, any chance of this happening? It's really irritating as it is...
#29
Bump, same request again ^^
[admin]#30
I think you can do that in Advanced by searching for threads by user instead of posts.

Yes, but its not really the same thing is it? If I want to see the most recent posts by a member, then I have to look through all their posts to find it..surely it would be better the way it was before the change? It must be fairly easy to change..
[admin]#32
I'm confused then. What you're saying here seems different to above. Can you please expand.

Actually now rereading what I qouted I can see why I'm not making sense. What I meant was instead of the posts displaying like this (when viewing "find other posts by member"):
http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/1012/hotto2sd1.jpg

So that the threads are grouped, could they not be displayed chronologically with the most recent post showing first like it used to be?

Hope that makes a bit more sense now :)
#34
...previously the posts were in chronological order, not grouped by threads. :)

Yep, thats what I think we should get back :)
#36
Agree with simplygifted here, chronological order (or at least the option to sort them into it) would make more sense
[admin]#37
Yeah gotcha now

i would like to see it brought back in some kind of order too, as it is it is only helpful to those with few post, a bit like myself:oops:
