Hi all,

Just a quick one.......

Wouldn't it be a good idea to auto insert the "guidance" post that the mods have to insert into every for sale/wanted advert ?

I.e. - I post a wanted ad, click on submit, and then a new post underneath mine is inserted with the following[COLOR=green]

[COLOR=Black]Would make the mods life easier & would eliminate human error (i.e. one of them missing a post!)[/COLOR]

This is due in the next forum update :)

Hey !

I should have been an admin ;)

Can something not be done about the people who are repeatedly breaching the forum rules regarding stating prices and trading via PM. Don't want to name the users but it doesn't take long browsing the FS forum to work out which members I refer to, and despite them being told on several occasions my mods/others about the rules they insist on evading them.

Fully agreed

Please use the report button or PM to alert us on any problematic posts there. Thanks.

I have sometimes but to be honest you are already usually aware (what bothers me is people are told to state a price, complain a bit then eventually do, then post another listing without a price and have to be told again... repeat...); also the bumps issue is a bit problematic as if you post something like 'please keep the bumps to 1 a day' etc you are bumping the thread yourself. Is it possible to give persistent abusers a warning or temporary ban (obviously banning/removing threads is really problematic in case when a sale is taking place).

Syzable, all your reports are viewed, and many thanks for them, they are very helpful. Obviously the forum members have hundreds of sets of eyes viewing things, and can spot more than we can.

But things go on behind the scenes that you do not see - we warn people, and when it persists they do get banned temporarily.

HUKD appreciates your help :)

I wouldn't say I constantly report things, But I do post things like "you must state a price as per forum rules" etc.

I don't report things like that though, Otherwise mods would have 100's of emails !

Thanks Emma.

At least 8 bumps: [edit - removed thread]
Not fair on other users...

Thanks for sorting, don't like publicly naming/shaming but was definately a repeat offender in this case.

In the Traders to Avoid list, i asume that the Ban's listed are only for that forum as i saw that one person is still active and another that's on a temporary 3 month ban is actually posting on the threads which baffled me.
#13
Yes, the bans are only from trading.

Is there no way of banning them from using that forum at all?

They shouldn't be posting there to buy/sell as far as I know.
#16
Wanted to say, if anyone sees a thread in the for sale section that has gone on for 7 or 8 replies, or a few hours, and it doesn't yet have the mods disclaimer, a quick report would be appreciated. (Just in the meantime)

 Cheers Ducky, i'll keep my eyes peeled then. As i have noticed one banned person posting in there but not buying or selling.........yet. :)

Ah ok, I've only once seen a deal nearly take place before the mods disclaimer, But i've seen a few times its been a few replies before a disclaimer, But if something is a good deal, Those 7 replies can be within 5 mins or so!! :giggle:

Ah, In that case, I've seen Vicky1974 (I think its 74) Make an offer in one of the threads.

Yeah, and when we glance at the list it's easy to assume a FS&T notice has been added to a thread when it's got lots of replies.
#21
My bad, I meant "1970vicky"........
[mod]#22
But she hasn't made any offers yet IOM, i've been watching for days. Just posting price comparisons at the minute.

Ah right, Fair enough, I've seen her/him post in threads, Personally I think they should be banned from the forum, Just incase they make any offers through PM etc.......

emmajk42 in a for sale thread
Locking thread, breaching forum guidlines after being warned about excessive bumping.

Sounds painful!!, Think you can get some creams for that....... :giggle: :giggle:
#26
Thanks emma, I know locking threads is only a final measure but some people have really not been playing by the rules ;-)

There are at very least seven bumps in this thread (although I'd consider saying 'updated' and then 'updated again' an hour later a bump also) and there have already been removed ones. How long is someone allowed to persistantly break the rules like this for?

That threads now been locked, If you use the report function the threads will be looked at and dealt with.
[mod]#28
It's good to see this being implemented since i queried it a week or two ago. I know it's in the site rules but is there anyway of including it in the Mod's FOR SALE auto post as well?

I mentioned that when it was being done, Apparently it was going to be put in in the guidelines/disclaimer bit, Otherwise nobody can see the new "no bumping more than once a day/Twice overall" rule.

It still can be seen.........as it's in the HUKD Guidelines and Rules which everyone is meant to read.....but don't. :)

I meant in the disclaimer/rule post thats posted in every thread.
#32
The disclaimer is long enough as it is I think - it's in the guidelines, which everyone should be familiar with before selling. If they breach the guidelines without being aware of it, well, ignorance of the law is no excuse...

Lol, I was meaning thats what I was originally meaning when it was first suggested, Which was a good couple of weeks ago!!
[mod]#35
So today i have seen a new bump avoidance tactic. The OP has deleted the last post on the thread and then re-typed exactly the same response as before and voila..............bump back to the top of the page.
#36
Thanks for the report syzable. The mods can re-instate the earlier post and delete the new bump.
#37
What are the rules on reposting a deal?

Can a deal be reposted after a while (perhaps at a different price) after two bumps?

Can a deal be reposted by a member who has had a post locked due to excessive bumps ;-)?
#38
Jah, technically, no. As both of those conditions have breached the forum rules, the deal cannot be re-posted.
