A thread of mine was pulled the other day as a member deemed it appropriate to report me for profiteering

You reported the thread yourself, I don't believe anyone else reported it.

Threads in question:

We both know that that is a lie. I did not report the thread. I asked for the thread to be closed as per the reasons stated above.

As per my request, do not turn this into an argument.

I guess what they could be saying is... if you'd bought one and decided you didn't like it then you might get away with offering it close to RRP regardless of how you got hold of it but by buying 4 of them it shows you are using the GAME loophole to aquire additional DSi's to (potentially) sell on at a profit.

Had there been similar stock issue to the JAP launch you'd have been sitting on a small ebay goldmine, as it is the UK is the grip of a recession and it hasn't come close to selling out... yet!.

So you were selling a brand new DSi console for £135 which is £15 less than list price and someone complained because you part-exed some games to get it!

It is basic human greed, they are more worried that you are making more money, by getting rid of old games, than they are saving. If you were selling above face value then that would be a different matter..................

In your "For Sale" thread, you were the only one who mentioned a "report". By reporting me(not sure why) you brought the forum helpers attention to it.

You did not request the thread to be closed, it was locked immediately until you provided evidence, you contacted the forum helper and declined to provide it(I assume) so it remained locked.

If you read the thread in "Misc", the OP stated that he paid £60 for it, I even questioned his logic, and stated that he paid £150, but he was adamant he paid £60 from a deal posted on HUKD.
So he was "hoisted by his own petard".

Had he accepted that it cost him £150, I wouldn't have posted in his "For Sale" thread.
Since he can only sell items that belong to him, the DSi that he was selling was the one he maintained cost him £60.

You are jumping to conclusions again. If I buy 4 items (therefore my money) then how do you know which of these 4 items I gave away or intended to keep? That is anyones guess.

I have never broken any rules on this site. I dont need to be raising funds. Surely if I was going to make profits I would have listed all 4 on here? Or simply taken these into CEX on Friday and got £145 a console.

I also refer you to a FS/FT rule that you break far too often. Only post in a thread if you intend to purchase the item or if you wish to draw attention to the fact that it is cheaper online elsewhere or over RRP.

My understanding is the OP did obtain ONE of the consoles via this method - the other 3 with hard cash @ full price.

So the ruleing here is he's decided not to keep one of the consoles, so because he has more than one, its the "deal" console he's selling and therefore profiteering?

It seems the problem (apart from the vendetta) is down to the trade in taking place at all. Maybe he needs to provide receipts for the original costs of the games traded? I'm sure the value should more than cover the cash outlay being complained about.

True. All true.

Now I understand.
As per Guvs post, the console which I got via the Game deal was given to a family member. I paid cash for two of the consoles which I decided to keep and my console couldnt be taken back to Game as I simply didnt like it.

I know what you mean about they havent come close to selling out. My friend works for HMV and he told me on Saturday evening that in two days they had only sold about 15! :?

I think it was a fair assumption that I made. If I am wrong, then I apologise, but if I did the same thing, I would expect another concerned HUKD member to point it out.

I have no idea on your motivation, that's not being questioned by myself. I simply made a comment that I thought was appropriate in the circumstances. I was clear and concise in my reason for doing so.

I know about the rule, and as it stands, you are correct, I was thread spoiling, but having admitted it here, I must now accept whatever punishment the staff see fit.

I accept the apology made.

I have been a member of this site long enough to take everything by you with a pinch of salt as I know how you go about your "business". My concern is that your occasional tactless approach will put some other members off of posting. I hope that this isnt the case.
