I have noticed there is allot of feedback bumders!!

For example an established member posts something it goes hot where as if someone else posts the same item say a week before or something it hardly gets any heat! if that makes sense!

While we are on the subject. If you want to get a mega hot deal just post something to do with sex! Allot of people just vote hot for there own cheap thrills.
#3
Obers82 - if a deal is posted that was posted a week previous, then it would get spammed as a repost so dont know how you have come up with that theory

OP - we get regular threads about this - I agree with what your saying - but continue to post how you feel re any deal and post any comments you want. It must be frustrating for a new deal to get voted cold without a reason being given, but if it is a good deal, it does slowly heat up or if its a rubbish deal - it goes cold.
#4
That was an example - I know what I mean, it does happen! ok a similar deal. Have seen it plenty of times.

You wouldn't be suspended for cold voting a mods thread unless you kept doing it for no reason.

Unfortunately Adam there was a big thing a wee while ago re a mod warning posters for voting there own deals cold - and JB had to sort it out. So mods can no longer see who votes hot or cold for their own deals posted

btw Obers82 - you have posted loads of great deals!

I know I have!! I was just making a point! it wasn't about my deals it was something I had observed!!

Thank you tho for you kind words!! if they were not said in a sarcastic way! :{
#8
lol Obers - not being sarcastic! As I said, some really good deals posted by yourself :)
#9
Thank you not so bad ones yourself - I have a lack of deals these days as only time I get on here these days is when Im on nights at work.
#10
The reason is because there are some retards on this site that think all they need to do is post something, or anything, no matter what it is, or who its from, and as long as it's the cheapest price, it deserves to be voted hot....... WRONG!!

Also, i never understand why people worry so much about a cold deal, and take it all personally, it's rather amusing.

Simple - take away the cold vote. You either vote hot or you don't vote.

from memory andywedge was dishing out more than warnings for voting his deals cold, he was basically manipulating the voting system. hopefully this hasn't reared it's head again concerning the op otherwise the entire integrity of this site is in jeopardy, but anyway...

as for the getting shot down over cold votes I wouldn't worry about it. voting is a matter of opinion, if you believe a deal is cold for whatever reason then thats up to you and nobody can really argue otherwise. 99.9% of the time a deal will be end up at it's correct heat and if a few people disagree then meh that is up to them.

Your memory doesn't reflect an accurate summary of the events. Some members do indeed go on a 'wrecking spree' and target certain individuals, regardless of status. In that scenario we would remind a member, should they wish to register a vote, to do so based on the merits of the deal, not the member posting. Perhaps some of us were too judgmental in the past, but it's certainly should not be happening now.

thegroutch
the question should be why the mods spend so much time posting deals in the first place, when they're supposed to be modding
you'll also notice a pattern that certain mods post deals for the same company over and over, the site are most likely getting paid for them to post all their deals
when a normal member does it it's spamming/shilling, when a mod does it it's fine
imo the deals should be left to the members, not mods to put in sly advertising

Any deals posted by mods are subject to the same methods members operate under. It should only be posted if the item is deemed to be the best value around and it's likely to be of interest to our members. It's been well documented in the past that we get sent certain offers, however only those that pass the criteria above are contenders for listing.

Due to the sheer size of the membership and volume of posts, resources are probably better directed towards moderating the forums and ensuring it continues to remain spam free. I'd welcome any changes that help remove the perception by some that moderators only post deals on the basis of self interest.

With regards to the cold voting, ants97 sums the case up pretty well. If the deal is good enough, the odd cold vote won't affect the general opinion of the deal.

OP

I remember giving a mod a cold vote a while back, and the next thing I know my accounts suspended for giving cold votes. If a deal is not a deal or its rubbish/***** then it should be voted cold. If its a hot deal, it should be voted hot.

You don't have any suspensions for cold voting, you've had a warning though. Are we talking about this account have you got confused with another issue ?

The whole Deaspwn thing..........i won, then i was removed from the list of winners and now they are giving me the wall of silence regarding it and not even having the decency to contact me. Leaves a very sour taste. The prize wasn't important and doesn't worry me but the way they've decided to try to sweep it under the carpet and pretend i don't exist after 5 years of being involved here i found very poor.

A very good point operateonme as this site is turning into averageukdeals more and more and so many people think that listing a offer that tesco do every other week classes it as "hot" or that a 5 year old cd at £2.99 automatically entitiles it to be "hot" when you wouldnt expect to pay any more for such ancient items. Its generally the same members too who seem to sit in front of HMVs website or Argos's catalogue listing every item and then moan when you vote cold for average prices.

Good point made tho and hopefully your point will get thru to people and start them taking feedback with respect

Oh so jb never issued an apology on behalf of andywedge after he was found to be sending pms and restricting voting rights of members who just happened to vote his deals cold?
banned#21
I never said that, however your definition was too narrow and potentially misleading. The moderator applied the same test to all members who appeared to have abnormal negative voting patterns, irrelevant of who the original deals poster happened to be.

As before, some of the text was perhaps too strong, issued too early or not in keeping with the principles of the site. If we get something wrong, we hold our hands up together. The issue has already been addressed so no need for me to repeat, unless of course there's further evidence to the contrary.

As for the OP, I've asked them to get in touch if specific concerns with their account. With regards to cold voting, it would be nice to see supporting comments however some members will not want to remark for 'fear' of being targetted, so it's fully understandable.

I can certainly dispute that..........with screenshots and a total lack of contact to back it up. It can't even be claimed that it's not part of the same site as it seems what i say here is directly linked to what happens on sister sites.

Syzable,

I was referring to the issue raised by ants97 and others relating to cold voting. Sorry I have no direct link to Dealspwn but I can pass the concern to someone who may be able to assist.

Hopefully you recognise that we allow comments here, even if not particularly favourable. However it's not for me to comment on what happens on other linked sites as I'm not privy to the full history nor do I have any input for that site.

No it's not I think it's brilliant. I come on here to look for hot deals in the UK as per the title of the site. I am too scared to post deals because faceless of the cyber bullies and cliques. Why don't these people join facebook or twitter.

You only became a member less than 40 minutes ago; presumably you have been reading deal listing threads for much longer than that to form the opinion you have. Maybe you felt compelled to join as a member to voice your opinion. If you did, thank you for your feedback.

If you consider an item of sufficient value to create a deal listing then you have contributed to the site. Please do not be put off by those that are out to cause trouble & try to be funny with their comments. Those of us that have been here for some time are aware of those parties & choose to ignore them anyway.

Some members do have valid points though, such as where the same item can be found cheaper, or with greater incentives, or even an alternate item that may be very similar but with better functions, or warranty, or any number of other attributes.

Often you see deal listings that you think should get more "heat" than they have, but this is often down to timing & finding the right audience on the day you listed the deal.

Deals are also voted cold for numerous reasons that you may think are unimportant or irrelevant.

BFN,

fp.

Thanks fanpages you are spot on with all your comments. Glad to see there are some sane people on here. Do you think it is a coincidence that every 1st time deal poster says please dont shoot me down etc etc etc. There are far too many fools on this site that revel in posting negative comments.

Also, what's with all the post your snow photos, do you think I should dye my hair chatroom stuff. Is this a deal site or not. A lot of these posts just clog up the site.

I'm agreeing with you far too much of late ;)

people should man up a bit more. I find it bizarre that people are so sensitive that they get upset about words on a shopping forum from someone they'll never meet :)

Thought you were supposed to vote on the deal?

Don't see the problem leaving a comment as to why you vote cold TBH. If its a bad deal then surely you are helping others by saying why if its a valid reason.

I dont care who posted a deal, if a deals good i will vote hot and if ive also seen said deal will say so in the thread (some things are store specific) if its something thats of no relevance to me i just jog on to the next one.

The ridicule and rudeness of some members is enough for me - I don't post 1/2 as many deals as I used to, mainly because a lot of the time I wonder why I bother. If I think i've found something that will really help people (in my opinion) then i'll post it, but if it's something i'm not so familiar with then i'll not bother rather than be shot down.

Also I don't comment as much as I would have previously, for the same reasons as above. It's just not worth it.

Hope things can improve as I used to really enjoy this site but some days it can get you down which is totally not the point of a site like this.

However i'm always so grateful for any good bargains I get from here so do keep up the good work on that front guys!!!

Sorry if i'm 'moaning' so please lay off with the 'boohoo' comments i've had so often in the past. As the saying goes, if you don't have anything nice to say then don't bother saying anything at all. It makes for a nicer environment all round...

Well said, you are not in the minority. I know a few folk at work that use this site daily to source deals (including myself) that would never dream of posting because of the abuse people can get. I also use the DIBB and have never seen anything remotely negative like some of the posts here.

I said suspension because I was not allowed to post deals for 48hrs or something, so to me it was a suspension and did not bother posting for a while. But this was an example of something I had noticed in relation to my main point, of giving feedback for cold/lukewarm deals and getting shot down. I was going on about general deals, rather than any person or deal in particular.

There have been a few posts where I was going to give feedback/comments but because of the contents of the messages already posted (not my deals but of others!!) I felt uncomfortable posting as it seemed like it really would not be appreciated. Having spoken to colleagues of mine that I recommended the site to previously, they concur.
