lol...excellent rant....however I do agree with you on several areas. There do appear to be 'cleeks' on here which I actually find funny because while they believe themselves to be wannabe 'mods', I interpret them as 'no lifers' sitting at a screen all day 24/7 thinking they're something they are not. Entertainment value is astounding if you look at it this way.. :)

There is a lot of useless posts and it is hard to filter these out unless there is a pretty advanced filter function. If suggestions are made to HUKD then maybe they will redevelop the filter and make it more advanced so that people can customise the posts to show only what they are interested in, whether it be time and date, or by new or discussed or by keywords.

Just to summarise...keep up the good ranting! :)

Do a custom feed and set a temperature level.

"well sod off and don't come back then" lol

I an see your bug bear tho!! i dont subscribe but do see alot of things that I would consider to not be a deal!! ie petrol 96.9 aint no deal in my eyes!!!

But on the plus side HUKD has saved me £££ on things I never would have bought otherwise lol (3x Dr Who books arriving tomorrow!!) :)

I agree on both counts, petrol prices aren't deals (unless there's a fuel voucher to be had), stock alerts should be misc too especially if the item is RRP or above.

Although that would work for some, the problem I see with this, is that the whole point of my custom "ALL" feed, is that I everything gets listed straight away, and many deals drop to -10% for no apparent reason, before rebounding.

So although it would filter out the rubbish, it would defeat the purpose of the "all" feed a bit. I will try and see if I can find a temperature filter that works.

Do you not agree admin that these are simply not deals though? WIi Fit at RRP, Fuel prices that are well publicised all over the news etc. All fine as tips - but not as deals?

Thanks! :) I do love HUKDs other than this by the way! It's saved me hundreds!

We had the same thing with the Wii last year - posts when it was in stock etc. I can't remember what happened in the end.

Petrol prices... hmmm haven't thought about it. Didn't realise there were so many.

The Wii threads were all bundled into 1 "Nintendo Wii stockwatch" thread. I took part in it, and used it, and it was worthwhile. I would do so again (Despite not needing one this year!), because when all in one thread, its genuinely useful, and you can subscribe to it etc.

I don't think there is a place for petrol 'deals' at all - other sites cover it better including news sites etc. However, I know and accept people do like them, and use them. But for me they are tips, not deals.

:D I'm getting some PM abuse about this now! Kids eh! :) Don't worry, I'm not suicidal just yet, despite 'sing2trees' calling me nasty names :(

Completely agree - I noticed there was another Morrisons petrol thread only a couple of days after the one last week. When the price is the normal price how is it hot? and also some chains (eg Tescos) vary their prices from garage to garage depending on local competition.

They should be in Misc and to demonstrate I practice what I preach

Unfortunately an hour or so later someone posted it as a deal.....:whistling:

I agree with your post all except the 'numpties get home' bit - I don't think I'm a numpty just because I go to work and don't get home until the evening. I'm currently in my lunch hour and taking a look - so hopefully I wont be a 'numpty' by the time i get home :whistling:

No No - I don't mean the people that can only check at night are numpties!

I mean the people that go into town, see HMV (or whoever) have wii fit in... then post when they are home, by which time its almost certainly out of stock again.

Didn't you just make a single Wii thread and say all post go in here or get deleted?

Anyway... I use RSS and don't really see it as a problem. I look at the title and if i'm not interested I move onto the next one. Out of 400 posts a day I might click through on 5

pipes.yahoo.com <- feed aggregator run by yahoo, but it allows filtering and searching to be applied to the feeds.

You could simply take your standard 'hot' feed, plug it in, get it to filter out deals with 'petrol' and 'wii fit', and it will generate a new rss feed for you, that you can subscribe to in exactly the same way.

Hope that helps. Personally i just find it easier to ignore to posts that i have no interest in ;-)
