So, your basically saying get rid of the temp guage...:? Nah!! UKdeals doesn't sound good! :p
#2
No, no i'm not, i'm saying don't allow folks to click the heat/warm as soon as it's posted. Let folks actually get summat FROM the deal, not the potential OF the deal.
Please re-read, thanks :)

I did read it....whats the point of having a temp guage if it ain't gonna be used? :?

Its like saying, we'll have some traffic lights at this very busy junction but won't turn them on til someone has a crash. :?

The problem with that is that many deals don't actually last longer than a few days, so buy the time someone's got something it's gone... OOS or taken offline.

And no one will receive anything if no one sees it in the first place!! :)

Birdyboy:
The OP didn't say remove the temp gauge did it? It WILL be used, ONCE FOLKS GET THE DEAL/ITEM/SERVICE. I thought it made sense, apologies if not. It would to me at least, make sense for folks to vote hot (automatically) by clicking on the thread itself, smaller amounts based on their rep. So, looking at your boxes, if you clicked on a deal, just clicked, cos the title of the thread drew you in, it'd go up by say, 0.1 degrees, Duck, say 0.2, a newbie hardly at all.

Then once you get the item, then vote hot on the guage once they get the item. What's the point in clicking hot, when a deal for say, a dvd is £3 but no one ever get's one, 100 people place an order and then they all complain? It'll be voted at say 200 degrees and yet, no one gets the dvd, no one. That's just silly

Duck: Fair enough, i can understand that side but folks would see it. Titles of threads would be tighter, more accurate. The interest in the deal, folks would click on it, slowly increasing the heat, more accurately.
Why do you say folks would not see it? That bit i don't understand. If a deal is posted, that wouldn't change. If the temp is more controlled the front page deals would still appear but be based more on folks looking at the deal, not just clicking on heat.

Why has the deal gone? Like i KEEP saying and clearly i am not making sense, so apologies again. If it's a good deal, heat would be generated by folks clicking on it. The temp may not get so high so quick, but would be pro-rata higher than poor deals and then, only then, once folks actually do REALLY benefit from the deal, they can post hot.

Again, i see no point in saying summat is hot, when there is no chance of getting a fictional deal

I'm really confused. Perhaps i am not explaining myself well but i see so many "hot" deals, where no one actually gets the item, or as disappointed at the deal and that to me is weird and is by no means, a hot deal

Well you can look at the statistics in two ways. You could say that a deal is voted hot, then people order it and it doesn't arrive. Tjis is very pessimistic though. In the majority of cases, these "quick to sell out" deals are shipped, for example the Dell ones which often last no longer than a day...

Also, the number of "views" a deal gets currently doesn't factor into the heat.

I know what you meant, but perhaps im putting it wrong

I said basically, get rid of the temp guage meaning we wouldn't need it if it wasn't to be used for the first week kinda thing.... Its based on what Duck put..if that makes sense...:? Im confusing myself here! lol

Ok, fair enough, i'll get me coat :?

It's ok birdyboy, it's not always easy to explain stuff on here :-D

Duck, again, fair enough. It's not so much pessism more there can be many threads on here of disappointed folks and i can remember the game and was it gamestation 24 hour sales thread, hamleys, many many a misprice on amazon, play seem to be a joke of late.

Folks are wading in, saying, yay great deal, voted hot and then a few days later, are posting of their angst. It'd be nice for folks to not be so disappointed but seems this is not an idea to be considered. I did see the flaws when i posted, i didn't think it was a perfect answer, not sure there is but, anyways, i'm bored now :giggle:

Perhaps being able to rescind your hot vote would solve this issue?

That is a good idea but still won't solve the problem if the deal only lasts a day or whatever cos by the time you take back you 'heat' it would be over anyway.

But then I guess the heat isn't really important a day down the line in cases like that...

Got to laugh, everytime i post a deal it goes down to -1.8 degrees...........i got me an evil stalker who hates me. :w00t: :giggle:

Does it really matter if a deal is voted Hot or Cold, as long as the OP finds it a bargain and has taken the time to post it for others, that is all that really matters.:)
[mod]#18
Nope doesn't bother me however cold it goes but there are several people here who really take it to heart for some reason. I agree with you Inactive.

In the words of Jules Winnfield, "Well, allow me to retort" :giggle:

If heat doesn't matter, then request it be removed. Admin did say recently he was open to ideas and he'd have the final say :)

I think the "heat and rep added" is to prompt some kinda gratitude where for me, if a deal is a good deal, the amount of views (given that Ducky has said this does not increase the heat) would be a fair reflection.

The heat of a deal influences to i believe whether or not it ends up on the front page of the site; not the forum so it does have it's use.

It's not a case of it doesn't matter as such, it's more a case of it's not something to worry about whether it's hot or cold.

Someone's contributed......that's the main thing.

Agreed Syzable, people have many reasons for voting Hot or Cold, it doesn't make any difference to the value of the contribution of the OP.

Because others may find an item Cold, it doesn't stop others from buying it.

I take the temp. readings with a pinch of salt.;-)
