How about this rockhound:

If you used to click “filter” and view all new deals on the old forum, you can do that here too. You just have to customise it. So, from the home page, click “customise your settings” on the right hand side. In the forums list, select “deals” and click the plus symbol. You can also add the vouchers and freebies if you wish, this will show you the same deals as the old forum front page. Or customise it however you want.

Leave all the check boxes at their defaults, excepting perhaps the “temperature threshold” – you could change this to zero. Set your viewing preferences to “new” and click save at the bottom of the page. To view your results, click the “custom” tab at the top. Voila! All new deals in reverse chronological order!

Ignore the time clock it's broken ATM

Use the ' Discussed ' tab that should bring up threads as they were in the old forum, i.e. last posted at the top

Thanks Em...will try that.

Let me know how you get on rockie, works well for me :)

Emma...sorted thanks.... Was getting withdrawal there!!

I used to click on the "Unrated deals" link before so I did not have to customise anything much. I managed to get my custom tab going now but it seems a bit of a step backwards. I have seen several people asking about the same thing so I hope the admins can add this without using the custom tab.

The site is going a lot better than yesterday which I really appreciate but there is still too much blank space on the screen. It makes me use the wheel a lot more than before! :)

OK. After doing a search for something - how do view newest first?

Come on Admin - you shouldn't need a ****in instruction manual to navigate a website!

p.s. got to viewing your new 'updated' website as 'text only' if that makes any difference...

sofeac, that's excatly how I used to use the site. I've tried a few different custom options but I either end up with discussions showing (which I'm not really interested in, I only want to see the deals and maybe vouchers if possible) or they don't seem to be in order of newest first, it seems to put any that have had a comment left recently to the top of the list. I just want to see the deals as they are posted, is this possible?!?!?

langtounlad if you just want to see deals click the "Deals" section in the header. Then click "New" and this will list them in order of newest start time. "Discussed" shows in a list of most recently commented or posted.

Thanks Admin, that looks like what I'm looking for

Have to say, I'm coming round to the new site. Still not as user friendly as the old one but not as bad as I first thought, especially now that you've cleared that up for me ;)

to sum up...

Click "All" from top menu
Then click "Deals" from menu below that
Then click "new" as opposed to "hot" from the buttons above the topics to filter

...if you have "hot" selected, you are filtering topics which are hot....if you have "new" selected you have topics that are new. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy :)

pan111 - since it's all so easy peasy...

can you answer my question too since admin are quite good at ignoring their ongoing problems at the moment. They must be quite snowed under mind you...

After doing a search for something - how do view newest post first? An advanced search doesn't pick up a fraction of the expected results.

In any 'ordinary' search facility you should be able to easily sort by date, amongst other things. The site is *****!

Maybe you're expecting too much? What exactly are you searching for? the advanced search works well.

You can opt to view results by thread start date, for example.

Expecting too much to find a specific post? OK I'm willing to accept that it is me that's doing something wrong - perhaps you can help me...

As an example - I wanted to follow up on a 'What HiFi' story - the Goldring headphone freebie.

I go into -
Advanced Search
Search by keyword - what hifi (and other derivatives including 'goldring')
Search entire post
I've no idea who the merchant or member is
Search all forums
Sort by 'last posting date'
Search all Forums - just to be on the safe side

Now where is that pesky post?...

I shouldn't have to do an advanced search to find this

Is that it?

I was in advanced search, I typed in goldring as the keyword, and changed results to show in order of start date.

Thanks for the link but I would rather be able to find it myself. I get a big fat ZERO with that search...

Now those screenshots are confusing - dont try clicking on them :)

Come on then Admin - you cant just leave me stranded...

Whats your advice? I found this thread again today by searching for 'goldring' but nothing to do with the post I'm looking for.

paolo - see the "include expired" button at the top? You'll have to click it to get expired results. So do the search, then use the "include expired" button at the top. This is going to be true no matter what you are searching for. I plan to have the "include expired" button on all the time.

Heres a link to how mines works and if your just basic searching do an advanced search leaving all fields as they are, seems to make them in chronological order, also use text version.

You will have to copy and paste the link for screenshot in that thread until a mod allows the link.
