Hi MrGrumpyman and welcome to hyukd's forums! :) Each deal has a temp gauge, as below.

Each member is given a chance to vote on each deal, once the deal reaches a certain temp it goes to the front page.

Each member can vote, the power of your vote depends on how long you've been here and your rep.

We dont encourage needless cold voting ( ie you just dont have an interest in a particular deal etc)

Any more questions, feel free to ask :)

If you mean the forum and the front page, they are all linked. The ones in the forum might have older dates, and have been on the front pages, and are chronologically a few pages back for example.

When a new deal is posted in the forum, it gets to the front page if member votes take it above a certain amount.

We decide, by voting 'hot' or 'cold' on a deal. It does not matter how many people view the deal, it's votes that count.

Yes but those with the most rep have most influence when they vote...so if someone with emma's rep votes a deal HOT then it's more likely to get on the first page...well I think that's the case....some may think that's rather unfair and that every member should have the same voting power.

Please correct me if I've misinformed.

I think you are right currychops, my vote is around 9.

Well Dino and I have the same rep.

And I just repped a great Slingbox deal, and that became 9 degrees suddenly...

So maybe.. hmm

Your green forum rep isn't the same as your voting rep. It's a factor but a small one in calculating your voting rep. Deals you've posted before is the biggest factor.

lol i add 0.2% lol hardly woth me clicking it!
#13
We'd like you to get it the habit of voting though, because as time goes on, your vote power will increase.

Could you provide a bit more info please ?
Is it the number of deals or how they are voted for by others ?
Does the more you vote increase your voting power alone ?

I know it shouldn't really matter, but just curious as to how this all works :)

Nope it does matter. The voting rep is based on the temperature of deals you have submitted, the time registered, number of posts, and forum rep. The first is by far the largest and the other factors are there to balance it out and give some voting rep to people who spend their time helping others etc in the forum.

Thanks for answering, so to sum up, the hotter the deals you post the more effect your vote has on other deals....
