as far as Im concerned...this is HOTUKDEALS.
Its a friendly community. If all we ever talked about was HOT deals, how boring would that be!?

Most of the hot deals are on HDTV's, PC's, you know, the more expensive stuff. Unfortunately, not a lot of us can afford these luxuries so we have to stick with the save a couple of quid items. Thats all I can afford anyway...

There's something for everyone here. If you don't like it, you don't have to buy it or read the thread. ;-)

I do know what you mean. Hopefully we'll have some site fixes some time from Admin which might address issues such as making it easier to categorise deals and find ones suitable for you. I'm not sure.

I just mean that there are that many Threads that today it is impossible to "police".

It's is of course becoming more and more difficult to "watch" for a "deal".

Think I can remember a year ago that once a day was enough to "watch" the HUKD forum which to me was the Forum called HotDeals.

Now it would need many visits througout the day to view <100% of the Hot forum.

But many of the posts are about lots of other things, I do it myself, talking about, the delivery guy didn't show, was late, MP3 quality is poor etc.

Yeah, maybe so. You can always go for RSS or email alerts for retailers, keywords or categories that interest you, thus cutting down on the cack you have to read.

Maybe that's my point...............

I look at a forum, read a Thread then find the discussion to be about something different. "Where to buy......or How about......"

Anyway folks.....

Seems you know what I mean, still a great place, lets keep it going that way.

But surely on a forum like this it's the original deal posts that matter, the rest is just to provide a bit more of an insight into the deal, quality, delivery, similar products?

Anyway, I'll step back. I'm far too good at stepping in to defend the site when you should all be moaning so we know what needs doing.

It'd be nice to have some ideas towards solutions to the problems though, rather than just whingey posts. :)

One man's meat is another man's poison,so to speak.

Ok,so there are great deals on plasma tv's where you save £££££,but i for one cannot afford such things.hopefully in the future when i am in the market that deal will be there for me.
The greatest thing about this place is the friendliness and helpfulness of the forum members,I have learnt so much about little things that I did not know and felt stupid to ask and no-one has made me felt stupid for asking anyway:)

I have saved a few quid on little bits and pieces though, got some lovely freebies and have helped others in deal requests even though i am sure they could have spent some time searching themselves.I was happy to do so anyway,it helps keep me up to date with things that are available as well.

Good post
This is, and always has been a friendly site. Everyone is willing to help others no matter what the problem is. That is the way it has always been, as long as I can remember.

To give an example, there is an Xbox 360 Camera thread going but the DEAL did not work, this should have been moved to another forum or closed.

I agree in that respect.Any deal that is expired or did not work and the thread just turns into people moaning or arguing should be closed and a discussion started in miscellanious.:)

True, but WE have the ability to do something about them.
Click on 'spam' or 'expired'.
If the posts are detrimental or just mental :p report them to a moderator using this:-http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/images/custom_buttons/report.gif

This has been suggested a few times I believe. A seperate thread for expired deals which would be monitored by HUKD members...

Well, it can be useful to keep expired deals there whilst people sorting them out. Moving them about isn't very appropriate.

Of course, if you use the front page (yes, we DO have a home page) then you can filter for deals you want and there'll be no expired deals listed there. To go to the forum thread just click on "comments".

As it has been said, spam posts are removed. Users can click on "Expired" when a deal ends and it'll be marked with "EXPIRED - ", which is simple enough to spot and not even read the rest of the title for and you can report any argumentative posts to the moderators using the report post button!!

Dont agree with this post. Naturally cheaper items are going to save you less money than on bigger purchases.

Its ok complaining about the quality of deals but unless you post many great deals yourself can't really complain about others that are making the effort.
#19
main things is everyone is friendly to each other and we all get some (hot) deals at times ... isnt that what its all about ?
#20
Would just like to say this site save me £4.5K bidding on a scam item on ebay. The advice I received was so helpful and informative. So friendly and non-judgmental and always ready to help. So pleased I was recommended to this site.
#21
Don't get me wrong, I'm not moaning just making a comment.

Yes the site is good, I just think it could be great. It's a nice friendly place and that's what good forums are all about.

I still visit and look for "Deals" most days, must be great for some reatilers as I'm sure a lot of us buy things that we don't need.

It's just that when you browse through the "Hot" forum and have x hundred posts from people complainig they didn't get a cheap cruise or a cheap camera these Threads should really be moved to the general discussion forum.

Agree it would be OK to leave the ones that are active or even recently expired since people like to compare orders/experiences etc.

Keep up the good work everyone.

 Butting in my newbie opinion here...

I would say a great majority of the posts after a product are genuinely helpfull. For example:
someone who has previously had that item can tell others what its really like (good or bad), people can post additional codes to make the products even cheaper for you, if your confused about the deal - or terms and conditions it entails - you can ask a question on the thread and some kind person will always come to your aid!

The posts after a deal do not always exactly relate to the actual item, but usually they are useful information from real people who have had experience with similar items / the company / links to similar products - cheaper! And of course people posting a comment when the item actually arrives to let others know what its like. An informed buyer is the one who will ultimatley save the most money in the end.

As for the 'how about' bit: I think its great when I find a product that people have listed alternatives for, and even better when they list items that go with the original post (for example: on the cheap domain names thread, someone offers a great deal on web hosting). This saves me loads of time searching for them! I also know that I can ask a question with confidence as there are several people on the thread that understand the difference.

HotUKDeals is alive and kicking for me! Saving £1 on one deal is just as good as saving £10's in the next, because I'm far more likely to complete dozens of £1 saving deals - and it all adds up!

This is aimed at no one in particular, just everyone in general... lol!::whistling:
If people spent less time moaning about the site, they'd have more time to search for stuff they want - or even google some deals and post them for everyone else to enjoy. Then the site would be better for us all!

I'm afraid that for me the tipping point has been reached.

The amount of time it takes to find an actual hot deal in the forum now outweighs the end saving. I value my time appropriately.

I suppose if you're a bored housewife or you're the kind of person who should really be fired from your job then it's still worth it but I don't have the time to plough through the endless la redoute code variations, £10 off a £700 pc, things cribbed directly from other sites like find-dvd and the 813 items you can now get free delivery from from tescos on to find something I classify as a 'hot' deal.

And just where is this helpfull to anyone then?

In my opinion there are that many different types of people on this forum that it suits everyone in different ways I mean, those who love the computer deals probably don't love the supermarket or catalogue deals but that just comes down to everybody having different needs. Its the same for those who have children and those who don't . So some peoples 'Hot Deals' will not be anothers if you know what I mean !!

Fair enough some people do go off topic and i suppose it gets on some peoples nerves but just don't read em if it does ! The mods do tend to deal with it but theres that much going on that I suppose they can't move every single little post because there's loads!!

Overall this site is the best around (in my eyes anyway) its saved (and cost!!) me a small fortune and whenever i 'need' to buy anything the first place I come is here. Everyones entitled to their own opinion and that was mine !!! http://www.blackmustangclub.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
