Been done to death this thread.

Use the contact us and ask for an account ban as they will not delete users.

Or just dont sign in?? (not trying to be rude just kinda thought this would be the most obvious solution)

I dont want a ban - I want my data removed. "Been done to death this thread" is just one example of the kinda rudeness I see on here!

How is it rude that statement, it's a fact, and it's text. If it was rude I would of called you a name or belittled you.

Think someone needs to take a step back and realise that some people arn't going to respond the way you like.

I gave you a means of contact 'helpful advice'

If you searched there was a thread a month back regarding this subject.

Admin has now been brought into this thread and he will sort you out.

What I meant by rude is the context it is written, if you had said, "hi, this is a regular thread here" it is far more friendly way than a blunt "done to death" put down, I appreciate the contacting comments and what happens etc

I find a lot of the posts on this site are now too comfortable for some in the way its communicated, would you walk up to a stranger in the street and say things in the same way.

Hi, I appreciate it may not be possible to remove the posts, but anything within my profile, so email address for example would be one.

No we wouldn't but this is a THREAD, not real life. Don't think the same are the two neither can they be compared, I think you have now got yourself into a position where you take little offence at everything posted. If you can't handle that then I would suggest staying far away from a lot of forum based websites as well as chat rooms and anything that is text based reply.

If you want a honest response I would say you need to lighten up a bit if you do not like the responses you can report them, if they are in breach of forum rules they will be removed, I would also stop tarnishing everyone with the same brush, and ask for this thread to be locked, and use the contact us method at the bottom of the page.

You do not want to remove your ID or Ban it if you actually value the information or deals based here or freedom of the FS/FT, competitions base or Freebies section.

if UKHD has been set as your home page, then you can remove it from your browser...Tools button - Internet options.

You can also delete any icons on your desktop and delete it from your favourites.

Hope this helps

This is real life, real people.

I made an observation that some of the forum posts I have read over the 3 years I have been with HUKD becoming deviations of what was being discussed and somewhat personal. I said I was getting fed up with this element, I appreciate you can raise a report etc, and HUKD ethos is great, and am grateful to the posters over the time. Please dont tell me to lighten up as though you have some higher moral highground over me.

Whether its a thread, real time conversation, basic manners still need to apply surely?

It's text still? Think your missing the point it isn't face to face contact (emoticons) and rude words make it emotionally or the opposite.

Basic manners have nothing to do with anything in Misc, where I am assuming is the place you became offended, and now on here from stating the facts.

Just change your email address in your profile to any old random nonsense, log out and job done.

I don't think its a problem limited to this site - you look at any popular forums MSE, AVForums and you'll probably see exactly the same kind of thing, petty squables, arguments, on-going feuds. In a way it does reflect real life as you probably see the same kind of thing going on in most workplaces. Its amplified on the internet forums because of the anonymity of the posters. I'm afraid you just have to accept it, develop a thicker skin and ignore the threads that annoy you......

This, not worth removing your ID over, not that you can anyway.

Thanks chaps, strangely it all started from a wholly inoccuous question on the main deals about the item and was shot down for asking a simple question. I have very thick skin I can assure you, but sometimes, just sometimes, it would be nice just to have a bit of courtesy you know? Would the post have been removed, probably not, wasnt swearing - just uncalled for rudeness, cant paint it any other way, and I thought - well, stuff it! I can still view deals anon, just not add any contributing comments.

I dont like my profile details being held, but like the changing the email address!!

Think that's your best option, then if you feel you need to use the account again you can. I hope you do.

Don't you think its a bit weird to request this?

Someone said something nasty to you, but just not posting anymore wasnt enough?

Have to admit I'm confused...

What data? You can change\remove your email address, what else is there you want to control but feel you can't?
#22
Well, when you go in to your profile you have an option to add many things, which mine are now deleted. When I say I like to control my data, it was a generic reference.
#23
So, whats the problem then? You can control that data. Would you rather your account was 'deleted' then somebody else could re-register with the name 'justinw'?

Thats a fair comment, but the username belongs to HUKD surely and not mine? Most sites allow you to close your account, I assumed this would be the same?
#25
Nope, they don't, but then quite what closing an account means varies vastly from site to site anyway.

Don't be so damned rude Chesso. Justremoved just wants to be removed.I share your views OP. Some members just don't have any consideration for others.Oh wait...... did I really just say that? X)

Riding rough-shod over feelings - how cruel I am.

Oh wait ... that was someone else....

log out and never come back is the obvious solution

Bye! you wont be missed lol

Sorry but IMO the Op has a valid point regarding rudeness.

Why is it so hard for some to be able to treat others with empathy and respect in the way they themselves would like to be dealt with ?

I can't believe the guilty ones don't know exactly what they are writing and the effect it could have on others. I can only think the lack of respect and empathy is related to being anonymous behind a screen name ?

The subject HAS been done to death but then the OP may well not have know that and to be honest a very simple paragraph in the Help Section would surely solve the recurring question.

It already has the following:
View or change privacy options

HUKD does not send out newsletters, nor do we keep member information. You are in control of your own account and you're able to delete your own posts, change your own email address / password at any time and edit your security settings within your own member settings. Click the settings button, top right, and scroll down to privacy information. Click the right hand arrow to view the options and opt in or out of private messages. You can also use invisible mode if you wish.

Did you just put that there Jah ?? ;)

Just shows how old and stoopid I am ! Thanks Jah :)

So in future a polite reference to that paragraph might do the trick ??

This poster's and csiman's comments perfectly demonstrates the OP's point.
