Good questions.
See how many points you have and let me know, then I'll give you some rep and you will be able to see how much it has gone up.
The way I understand it is the more rep you have the more rep you can give.

As for the boxes, I think after five dark green boxes you get light green boxes, as default.

Who's 'rep begging'? I know what you mean though, I thought it was a good question and with no 'official' reply I thought this would be the easiest way to answer.

Ducky for eg is a splendid one to behold, so he must have between 650 and 999 rep points

That must have been ages ago :?

I was thinking that. I think the system might need to be changed slightly to be honest, no offence, but I think its daft that anyone can move someone up 3 blocks in one positive rep. Either the scale needs extending or the amount of points awarded needs to be reduced proportionally I reckon.

Hi JohnnyStar :) there are two types of rep right now - the forum rep (a vBulletin thing) which anyone can give you on any post by clicking the scales icon. This is the number you see in your UserCP and is what the green boxes come from. The more of this you have the more you can give to others. This is really more or less for fun on the forum and so people can have credit for useful posting.

The other rep is the voting rep - this affects how much your hot/warm/cold vote changes the temperature. This is built from a few factors including previous deals you've posted and their temperature.

I've got 8605 rep points - and sometimes think it looks stupid when someone with 1 rep block goes all the way upto 4 or 5 - I know its been mentioned before, but i think we should be able to limit how much rep we give...

Are we getting any new rep features in HUKDv2 Paul?
[admin]#15
How the voting rep is calculated will be changed slightly. Eventually I want to get rid of the forum rep and integrate it into overall rep (using some kind of Thanks button on posts or something) but I don't think that will be ready for the first part of the new version.

Bloomin' 'eck; I nip off to Tesco and come back to a load of replies; don't any of you people have anything else to do on a miserable, wet, dank Bank Holiday Sunday?? ;)

Can't say as there's been a definitive answer but I understand that it isn't a 1-for-1 rep point each time somebody forum reps you and that the size of the 'repper' does add proportionately different amounts of points. But we don't have a clear answer/equation on what that is.

And looks like the green boxes just change colour for no other reason than five of one colour and then the next five a different colour.

Thanks for the advice, chaps/chapesses.

And Dinosteveus, I wont ask you to rep me as an experiment; don't want to get rep'd unduly. Cheers for the suggestion though.

1. The more forum rep someone has the more rep they are able to give to another.

2. Green boxes change colour as you get more rep.

Admin, as I said, I understand this but there still isn't a definitive answer on what this relationship is.

For the pedants and maths-interested sad chappies amongst us do you know how this is calculated? I mean what's the mathematical relationship between the variables Rep Giver's points level and Receiver's Current points level. There must be an equation to calculate how many exact points to give based on the respective level of points of each party prior to the repping.

Or is it just a black box that comes with the vBulletin software and you haven't a Scooby?

Just curious on a wet afternoon but no sweat if you don't know or have better things to do - which I assume would be the case! :)

Yeah there's some calculation - I think there are variables too. Haven't looked at it in a long time. If you go to vbulletin.com you can probably find the exact information there or post in their forum to ask.
