*personally* I would also like to see deals posted with the Vendor/store in the title too (or perhaps just get the site to do it automatically to be on the safe side) - would negate the need to go to every post unsure of the vendor it applies to... just my 2p worth ;-)
[admin]#2
Do you mean for vouchers or deals? I don't know that it is so necessary on deals.
#3
I always add on my mobiles:

make,model,colour,network,name of contract tarriff/payg

So you can filter for all of the "Nokia" phones, all of the "payg" handsets, all of the handests on the "orange" network or all of the phones on the "canary" tariff... ;-)

They really are handy!!

I've learnt something new ..thanks very much.
#5
Im guessing this post is because I tagged a deal today. I didnt realise it appeared on the actual post. My fault maybe. Sorry guys.
#6
What?? We WANT you to tag posts!! :-D lol.
[admin]#7
As duckmagic says we want you to tag posts :) And nope was unrelated to any tag you used! I just thought it was well enough time to explain how it works and give some ideas.
#8
Yeah I didnt know what it did. Thought it would be a good idea to tag the first post if a voucher doesnt work. To save people the time and effort of reading all the posts and trying it only to find it doesnt work.
[admin]#9
Ah in that case then click on "Expired". If enough people click expired it will be marked Expired in the title and be taken out of the voucher listing.

Also, any user can append to the original post by clicking "Edit". So if you want to add something to the original post you can do it like that.
#10
What you did wasn't a tag karlosblanco, you actually clicked edit and a comment appeared in someone else's deal.
#11
THANK YOU FOR THIS. I HAVE LEARNT ABOUT TAGS, EDITING AND EXPIRATION ALL IN 1 MINUTE!!! NOW I HAVE NO EXCUSES.........
#12
Im pretty sure I clicked on tag emmajk42. Try it and see. I have edited posts before. Maybe Im wrong but I would bet my unborn child on it. (need to conceve one first!)
#13
Yep I just tagged your post and it worked like it did when I did it last time. My unborn child is safe!
[admin]#14
Nope that's editing karlosblanco. click Add a tag to add a tag.
#15
...and remember to add it to the 'Tags' field not the 'Add to Description' field :)
#16
I just set my outlook at work to get all rss!

All deals at work, so i have me credid card out and ready should a deal pop up!

(Damm u amazon buffaloo drive station 500gb for 80 quid! lol)
#17
Ive always wanted to ask what RSS was....... Anyone let me know?
#18
And yeah your right I clicked tag but I wrote my text in the item description box.
#19
Just read with interest the info on TAGS. Have wanted to ask the question for some time "is there a quick way to bookmark a deal?". An example is the AOL antivirus deal which I am sure I will want to refer back to (searching doesnt always find the deal). Is tags a way of bookmarking a deal so I can find it again or is there another way??

RSS??? What, how??

Yes, you could use a personal tag to note all the deals you have interest in. Even use your username :)
#22
Great advice, thanks... I'm still learning the ropes having viewed from afar for way too long.

Bit concerned I may have to give up future generations though! :)

Thanks emmajk42 - just one more dumb question - how do you find the tag(s)?
Thanks

Good question! What you could do is this: tag a post you are interested in, and click submit. Then click the tag link, and it brings up that page. Simply bookmark that page! That should work :)
[admin]#25
Yup that would work. So then you just have to bookmark that one page and any deals you would add your custom tag to would show up in that bookmark.

Thanks guys - works well. Guess you just remove the tag once the deal is expired. Good call

Is there an easy way to search for a particular tag, other that entering it into the url ?
A small text search box on the main page could be useful, or am I missing something obvious ?
#28
I still dont know what RSS is.

Take a read on this thread karlosblanco:

The tags are put into the bottom of the original post. If you click on one of the tags "January Sales" for example, it'll bring up all the posts that specific tag has been placed in. If you find a "January Sale" that you think needs that tag, you can add it yourself and it'll be found by anyone clicking that tag in the future.

annoying trying to find stuff on here sometimes, il add more tags,to deals etc to make it easier to find in future, ps i didnt even know this thread existed till now lol
#32
First of all sorry for bringing up an ancient thread. But I feel that suits my question best.

Anyway I want to track a specific product brand (via custom settings) which I guess isn't "mainstream enough" because the name hasn't been added to tag list yet.
Is posting a deal is the only way to make a new tag? Tutorial in first post says that anyone can add a tag. But 7 years have passed and I guess this is no longer truth. O am I wrong?

...O am I wrong?

Are you able to use the "EDIT" link below a thread description (opening post)?

If so, then you can add one or more tags (or remove any tag[s] you have previously added) & then confirm the change to the thread.

For example, I have just added "kaiseris" as a tag to this thread.

Once you have confirmed you have seen my reply, I will remove it again.
#34
Thing is that I haven't posted a deal with the product I miss tag for. But if I understood you right it's the only way.
Thanks.

OK. The tag has now been removed from this thread.

PS. Some tags are added automatically when threads are created. Also some of the tags were 'retired' recently, so it may be the case that a thread used to be tagged as you expect, but due to the low quantity of threads associated in that manner, the tag has been discontinued.

Try the Advanced Search facility for keyword or keywords for the item instead.

Try the Advanced Search facility for keyword or keywords for the item instead.

No probs with search. It's just a lot more convenient to monitor custom tags via RSS.
But I got the idea. Thanks again.
