HUKD - API Feedback
With so many new ways of accessing data, we've introduced the new Hotukdeals API.
Please post any feedback, relevant comments, issues, developmental ideas and suggestions for improvement within this thread so they can be addressed and we can hopefully work together in making this thing a success.

It seems that existing problems aren't getting fixed let alone worrying about new stuff.
Like when you click to add or subtract heat, you quite often get a scroll bar appear beside the temp when you click.
What's that all about. Been reported ages ago, nothing done.
And when changes do get done, who is it done for? 'cos it doesn't always seem to be for the user / funder.

Re the developers- they're constantly working to improve the site and fix glitches, often ones that you guys don't even get chance to notice. We're still going to work on new stuff in the meantime though, and we know there are a bunch of members using smartphones and other methods to access HUKD data so hopefully there will be some good submissions.
However, as someone else has said, can't we fix the long-term problems first?

2. vouchers now a complete mess on screen and most dont apply to the deals anyway.
3. only 3 link pages on screen when consensus was that 10 was far better.
All we seem to get from the developers are completely ill thought out changes and feedback is just completely ignored.

Been waiting for something like this thats for sure!!... not sure i have the time at the moment will have to see how things pan out.

1. normal search is as broken as ever
Normal search works fine csiman, it's just knowing how to use it. Yeah it needs tweaking, but the results are so varied it's a tricky one.. I mean look how many deals are on this site, say someone is searching for "Playstation".. do you want the results in chronological order of when posted.. or most relevant result.. or most popular result.. or maybe chronological order of the last time they were bumped.. there are loads of variations that the developers have to take into account and pleasing everyone is nigh on impossible.

Voucher tool - it's your opinion that they're a mess on screen. "Most don't apply to deals" :? They're there as an option to help members remember to use relevant vouchers when clicking through to the deal. It's easy to forget to do another search for any vouchers that may be useful- this helps to showcase what's available.

This issue only really applies to massive misc threads and big deal discussions, a lot of deals & vouchers don't end up with pages and pages of discussion so this doesn't really apply.
All we seem to get from the developers are completely ill thought out changes and feedback is just completely ignored.
It's been said before, we get literally thousands of comments and emails from members with ideas.. we don't ignore all but we can't please everyone. The developers work really hard trying to keep the site moving forward and whereas a lot of updates end up being tweaked and adjusted following member feedback, the majority are an overall success. Look at when the site updated over 18mths ago- how many people said that it was unusable and they wanted the old site back? Now look- most of them are still here, are skilled at using the site and we now have nearly 200,000 registered members aswell as countless guest browsers.
What I'm trying to say is noone likes change, but change happens, everything evolves and that's exactly what HUKD is doing constantly- It's evolving.

Yeah thats quite an importaint thing as if these are on mobile devices needs linking to the mobile links.
