Sorry to be thick - how do I put it into feedback?

Is there a reason the search engine is so different to most others?

Can it be fixed / altered / improved or are we stuck with the same one for good, or is it something to do with the whole software package for this site and will only change with a complete overhaul?

Its a Special Search bar

This one has me stumped, but it's the exception to the norm.

99.9% of the dupes are not due to the search engine throwing up an odd case like this, but due to the member not searching effectively, if at all.

i posted a new deal for the Nouvelle toilet roll this morning guess it got spammed, i did a search of Nouvelle in the search box but nothing came up :?

Personally, I dont think it is an odd case. I have lost count of the number of times I have posted a deal thinking it hasnt been posted before (and then some kind soul tells me it is a double post) and that is when I have searched (and using the advanced option).

We'll look into why this is happening and let you know.

Regarding deal dupes - you don't even have to search. When you go to submit a new deal it shows the recent ones on the submit form.

Thanks for the response - the number of times, I have submitted a deal - they dont appear in that list or in the searches -- and then I get flamed for duplicating

To be fair, admin, it only shows the last 5 or so, and for big companies like Amazon, Tesco, etc, it's just not enough.

It should show the other deals posted that day, for that company, or something....
[admin]#13
It only shows for the company and forum you are posting for (for example only last 5 vouchers for Play if you are submitting a Play voucher).

Click the merchant in the most recent deal to list all deals posted under that merchant :)

I know how to use the site , but admin said that there is no need for people to do a search when posting another deal as it shows the latest deals submitted.

What I'm saying to you is, the last 5 deals from a large company will not be enough if you are suggesting (as you did) that we should use that as a basis of whether there are any duplicates .

For the record, I know how to search on the site, and often point out dupes myself :)

+1.

I remember saying this about a year ago.

I'm wondering does VB have stopwords in all languages? For example, the search excludes common words like new, the, and if, in English.

Nouvelle is "new" in French, so it might be in some sort of excluded list?

As for listing all the merchants deals - some of the big companies, you could be there forever, going through page after page - surely there must be an easier way that works :)

Admin is bringing in a system where url's will be checked when submitting a deal.
