i would hardly call someone pointing at where you can get it new for cheaper not very nice - lol

Totally agree with you _kian_. You see a good deal, try to pass it on and some solar flare or other established member gets their knickers in a twist about what a rip off the item is!! Thats why i don't post deals.

yep i take your point and i cant be bothered either but you can express an opinion:thumbsup:

two members had quite a discussion earlier whch could have ended in tears but ended amicably. Lets face it is someone is really insulting just move on:roll:

I know what you mean, you can get that a bit now and again - with members simply being purposefully rude or being annoyingly picky or exact over something you say.

You can also feel excluded when other members form a bit of a clique - and are having personal chats inside the confines of a thread designed to be about whatever the subject in hand. All the while ignoring other posts from others.

For instance I had some idiot trying to wind me up by giving me the troll routine to a couple of my posts the other week.

and that doesnt happen in life anyway?? there are cliques everywhere. if you dont post you wont get known or get rep?
#16
I agree OP, several of the longer standing members can come across as incredibly rude whether that be intentional or not.

On the other hand most people on here are very helpfull.

The ignore function used against the right personalities/jobsworths turns this place into a much better experience IMHO.

I guess that's what separates the hardcore users from the casuals if you pardon my simplification.

Some ppl post relentlessly just to keep up their posting rate - but only a relative few do this, the vast majority of others just post when they feel like it or when a specific topic interests them.

I agree with the OP, this site only works if people post deals, they're not always going to be the best deals in the world and often the criticism is not constructive. I'm not sure it's as simple as older and newer members, I've seen both being lovely and both being rude!
banned 1 Like #21
yeah I see OP's point here, but there are a lot of new members that give no respect to anyone, so its all swings and roundabouts.....there are a few members that can be rude to newbies....but there are some bigger members that are rude to everyone new or not

I wouldn't worry too much...I'm relatively new, just ignore it...I tend to find these types are sad, jealous people...so just ignore....your better than them.....

as for people having conversations I wouldn't worry it just happens and people get into convo's on here....we all do it and when you get into it more you'kll do the same....think of it as a big nightclub....you can't talk to everyone in 1 night....

The site, ultimately, is about finding good deals. If what you've posted turns out not to be a good deal, then people will tell you. If something is cheaper elsewhere, and someone states that bluntly, then fine, move on. You can't expect people to be all apologetic because you haven't found a good price for something - it's your fault it wasn't a good deal, not theirs. ;-)

There are always going to be people who see others trying to help out as being "jobsworths", but that's mainly because they themselves are no good at spotting deals, or keep repeating old deals. Some people like to see this site running smoothly, and to be easy to navigate and search etc - so if someone posts a deal with a title of "fish", then there's nothing wrong with suggesting the title would be better as "Fish - 2 for £3 at Giant Supermarket". The site has a style, and it's good to be consistent. What's the point of having no rules and letting the place descend into a sea of mistypes, duplicate deals and broken links? Some people take the time to tidy up, some people just chuck their rubbish all over the place. Swings and roundabouts, oil and water.

:)

When certain members have a go at you, you know you've arrived! Sometimes being slated is all part of the process. Not everyone will agree that a deal is hot but if you don't post deals yourself you miss the point of the site.

We're all here to try and save each other money where possible and, in the case of mass ordering of mis prices, get our own back a little on the retailers who make so much money from us ;-) ....when they honour the order anyway.

Take the rough with the smooth

Yeah I see what people mean and agree :)
Its only when they start insulting/gettin ott :viking: that I find it pointless.

All I can say from my personal point of view, is write your comments to be helpful and respectful to all members, and set a good example for those who seem to have nothing but negativity. If you see someone jumping on newbies because of something they've done... take a few seconds perhaps to write a kind word, and point them in the direction of a help thread.
#27
I know what you mean kian If i vote cold i will normaly leave a reason or link to where i have found it cheaper but some people like to be rude whilst doing it. There really isn't any need but there are plonkers everywhere you go. Saying that posts made in jest can easily be taken the wrong way aswell.

actually talking of cold voting...I've seen a few times someone has posted 'Already posted' etc and people have maybe taken it the wrong way....problem is writing something and saying something are completely different and sometimes things can be taken the wrong way totally

When referring to specific members, I copy and paste their usernames a lot, e.g. dmissy13 and half the sentence then gets bolded, so I just bold the whole thing and move on, instead of having half a sentence bold, and half not, just like this one :p

Partial agreement, I saw a post for FZserial Sony laptop, someone points to a better deal, refreshed my page and the post was gone, even though the post poitned towards a deal which was light years better than the deal available

Having said that I still think HUKD is still better than the forums available, it is always easy to point flaws and HUKD have been able to set new standards but it will be much better if we can see more companies instead of just the regular E-buyer. dell and dabs :(

Great if we can see other companies but people are going to post the places where the best deals can be found. If that is a certain consistant amount of companies then so be it. As long as I get a good price and good service then fine.

(BTW f1stfull not this time!! ;-) )

Right you are, good prices and good service, no issues even if it is just a one reseller everyone starts talking about as long as its the members who are getting the benefit eventually, having said that let the good deals/posts stay I saw one dissapear in mid-air today was'nt all that excited just because this chappy had put a competing deal to an already running deal ?

I agree with these.
It's little to do with being 'new', I feel.
I'm fairly well established now, more -or-less and I posted a good deal that reached the hottest over 3 days box but there was a person with a peculiar axe to grind climbing all over it with silly replies and editing the OP with stuff like "Sunny, Where is the sun, then I will book it" until someone alerted a mod. I had warned that I would do just that if s/he kept on but someone beat me to it when s/he persisted. So it's not just new members, anyone can 'suffer'.
However, I would say that it does put you off posting again to some extent.
