Idiotic removal of duplicate deals
I submitted a deal for this 2 days ago:
http://www.lidl.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg/lidl_uk/hs.xsl/index_28323.htm
It got to 93 degrees before a freelance forum police officer reported it as a duplicate of this:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/multipurpose-cutting-tool-29-99-lidl-1127501
It's sitting at 29 degrees (thanks to 5 degrees from my just now) with little hope of going hot. There is no picture of the item and the description is inferior to mine.
Surely the one with less heat should be the one which is deleted?

And what is that on post #3, ah yes, a picture, a pretty good picture with all the details you need..
Ok, so it's not in the OP, but it looks like Fatboy didn't have a picture to post until he scanned it from his leaflet.
Surely you could take a minute to check if it had already been posted before you posted yours?
At the price a steal.

I did. Didnt see it. Also, what is the point of posting deals? To bring them to people's attention. My deal was far more successful in doing that. And then they remove it. Counter productive imo.

How on earth do you know that?
So, how many people looked at your deal and how many looked at the other?

Any deals can be posted, but the site is all about the hottest deals available in the UK, so run a price comparison check before posting and ensure its not been posted within the last 4 weeks or itll be deleted as a duplicate post.
Yours was a duplicate and was rightly removed. It does not matter which one read better. You didn't see the original - tough, it's not the end of the world.

Well perhaps I looked at the heat?

That only means more people voted it hot.
Doesn't mean more people saw it though.

It's not my call. It's part of the rules.

I know. I'm saying they aint quite right. At least transfer the heat to the old one, for example.

True. May give a rough guide, however.
If anyone did vote it cold. I'm sure they could amalgamate the scores in some way.

So, presumably only one or two people saw this deal as it didn't get hot.

So what about the heat from people that voted on both deals?
And who is going to do the adding?
Threads get spammed as duplicates mainly by the members I think, the mods don't have the time to faff around checking for duplicates and adding the heat up.
And then where would you draw the line, after 10 posts of the same thing or 20 or 30?

If you had reported one/other thread then the comments from both may have been merged into a single thread.
That still may happen if a member of the site staff sees this thread.
Try "reporting" this one, or posting another comment in the dedicated "Feedback" thread for this purpose:
'Where Did My Thread Go?' Thread
BFN,
fp.
either way - should always merge into older post
heat is irrelevant anyway
beyond sad!
