The ignore feature isn't much of a feature anyhow, why can't it not show anything the ignored person says,it will show a post saying you have this person on ignore or something like that.
Why can't they be invisible to you,i've been in chat rooms where you can block a person and it doesn't say this person is on your blocked list etc,you just don't see anything from them full stop.

Why can't that happen here.......

^^^ would be fantastic if you could do this...

Because you need to know when a member has made a comment whether you want to see it or not.

Imagine a conversation:

Person 1: "Sensible stuff blah blah blah...."
Troll: "I'm a troll."
Person 2: "Shut up you idiot".

If person 1 had blocked and ignored the troll, they would think person 2 was talking to them...

It works perfectly fine in chat rooms,i don't see the issue.

Normally on here, someone quotes someone to reply to them, they don't reply without putting who they are talking to as without quoting someone you could be replying to anyone anyway.

to be honest if you can see the quote and can see the opening post there really is little point in having an ignore function. I dont use ignore, i like to see members looking pathetic, it says so much about who they are and add that with the like button and it really does say it all

I hope the developer doesn't waste time implementing this. Thankfully, it's been suggested many times before, and it has not been given the time of day.

Most people don't even use the ignore feature as it is, and even when they say they do(for some reason the feel the need to announce it) they are often caught out quoting the person they say they are ignoring.

Practice self restraint instead.

It's not simply a case of self restraint, why should people have to read others inane drivel if they can be made "invisible" by blocking them.

I'd heartily back that improvement to the site.

They don't have to read their inane drivel though.
Put them on ignore, and at most you may read a title of a thread they start. If that upsets you to the point your day is ruined, it may be time to give up the interwebs.

Ignore the troll Deb8z!

That's it, if someone disagrees with you, call them a troll in a forum that is supposed to be serious and free from unprovoked personal attacks.
