Thank you for your post RedIron, it's a very valid point that you have raised regarding empty boxes being resold in the FS/T Forum (for consoles, mobiles etc).

I've passed the matter on & it will be discussed further with the relevant people when they are next online, & we will then update this thread accordingly.

I don't see what the big problem, so what if the product doesnt have a RRP, if poeple think its too expensive then don't buy it.

Exactly do we not have enough rules without adding more if people want to buy them and they need them to repackage an item to sell on as they get more if they are boxed where's the problem. :whistling:

Everyone doesn't know that it's not too expensive though, for example i've seen those Iphone sims go on here without credit for almost £10. In reality they're worth around £2.

The rules are only there to protect the members on here.

But sureley members can look around to find an average selling price! If they are too lazy to look around (ebay etc) then as far as im concerned they deserve to pay over the odds

I tried to buy an i-phone sim. I put the asking @ £1 (expecting offers) and the thread got locked.

(10) You must NOT list items for sale at higher than the recommended retail price. The marker of RRP will be determined by cross indexing with Amazon or other well known retailer. Profiteering is NOT permitted and this includes items previously found at a lower price in the 'Deals' or ANY forum here.
* Vouchers available as non transferable or with next to no resale value, such as 0.001p for example and generally available free items etc. must NOT be offered for sale or trade.

I don't understand this rule,
what if you are selling something unique? or vintage clothing?
you cant find a RRP for those either. :?

Yeah a clued up member can but not everyone knows how much something is worth, hence all the valuation requests in misc.

Yeah you're just not allowed to sell them on here at all at the moment. You could start a thread in misc asking for someone to give you if you cover P&P.

Somethings don't have an RRP any more say for example old computer games but they can still be sold on here. The problem is people selling things that were free like when youtube was giving away the Litle Big Planet beanies and people were selling them for £60.

After a discussion it has been clarified that packaging cannot be resold as it has no RRP - it can be given for free & the price of postage can be added - as per existing freebie item rules.

Regarding the iphone sims that have credit on them added by the seller - these can be resold to the value of the credit or lower. However if the internet access has been blocked (eg because they'd been used in a phone other than an iphone) then they cannot be resold with an 'assumption' that internet access may be able to be unblocked, but they must be sold as described ie an iphone sim with £x credit on it (with no assumptions made)

It's helping clarify the existing rules around these items rather than adding additional clauses to them.

Thanks.

With the phone boxes I think people sell the handset to Mazuma mobile or wherever and then try to make some extra money from the box on here rather than throwing it.

I found this out today and was suprised to see why the rule is now being inforced on them I have no problem with it, but the rules need to include this.
