 I agree there is so many rules ruining it, all this bulk listings, no duplicate posts, no picture with your user name, yardy yarder, I have had my last three posts cancelled for different reasons, the last one I was accused of having it on ebay too which I didn't, I got suspended for the privilidge too

Although to be honest if you got £12 for band of brothers then well done, everyone on here is fully aware of when band of brothers was available new at amazon and play for £9.99 delivered...

Also you must remember the site is 'HOT' uk deals not 'Average' uk deals

i totally agree with deathtrap
and your a brave man scribbles the mod's will mark your card now :)
maybe the mods should be less concerned with thread bumps and more concerned with people spouting unfair comparisons and thread hijacking

We will deal with excessive bumps and thread spoiling in the same manner. Report them as necessary. Thanks.

dont get me wrong thread bumping needs control but 3 bumps max can be gone in minutes if it's busy or a mod closes a bunch of listings maybe like other forums maz 1 bump a day would be better?

I actually think the FS/FT forum is quite good. Now hang on a minute, I can hear everyone drawing their guns ready to fire.....show some restraint.....:p

Re the wanting things of really low and unrealistic prices....yes, 100% spot on with that OP, I totally agree with you there. This also applies to Wanted items, the mods should be requesting them to put a mandatory price on their wanted listing otherwise those are going to be the worst offenders for unfair bumping, and in which case the listing should be withdrawn if the wanted post (a) doesnt clearly state a buy price for the specific item wanted and (b) the post owner doesnt agree to buy from the person offering at said buying price.

Any spoiled posts should be reported in the normal way and I've found that most of the time the decent mods will act on it, and this includes replies asking to buy at a ridicuously low price, if the OP reports that reply then the mod can deal with it. Of course, the other way would for the OP to have the ability to hide certain replies from their post which would automatically report it, that way the listing is self maintained by the OP.

:p

can't remember the last time I sold something on ebay.

I've managed succesfully over 100 transactions on here without an infraction and have both bought and sold things at reasonable prices "second hand market value?!"

FS/FT is alive and kicking in my opinion
#10
Seems to be working fine for me.
#11
ive got 160 feedback on here in about 6months ive been dealing on FS/FT so that works out 25 items bought and sold per month so nearly an item a day!

The problem is on HUKDs people actually generally know the value of items due to deals we have all seen, thus were looking for bargains and to pass on bargains (thus why no profiteering is allowed on here). Unlike ebay where its a free for all where people will even pay over RRP as "theyve got their heart set on it"

On the view of putting a price on a wanted thread, what about if someone has the item but at a quality you wouldnt accept? Then it will become expected that if your willing to sell that item at their price, then it seems the OP would be tied to buying that item. So i think wanted items should never have a firm price, although a loose price range could be helpful on certain things...ie PCs
#12
I am fairly new to HDUK but it does seem that most people want to pay nothing, but are always asking top prices for their items, the deals are good, and the chat is often entertaining

Whilst it seems you are away for an unrelated matter, we'll confirm to you again that your previous suspensions/infractions (the last 3) were all due to listing on ebay. The evidence was conclusive. As always, please take this to the "Contact Us" link if you wish to discuss further.

sour grapes on both accounts methinks

I think it works well, to be honest.... some things people are wanting to knock you right down on, but that's understandable, as this is a deals website, and people generally know the going prices for things.

At the end of the day, you don't sell it here if you aren't happy with the price. But then selling on ebay, you have fees to pay which can be about 20% these days, all in.

Only thing I don't like is that when I have a Wanted thread, I can only have 3 bumps for the lifetime of the thread. I'd prefer something like 2 bumps a week or something? Seems daft to have to expire it, to list it again in a week's time...

But otherwise, all the rules seem pretty OK to me :)

Sour grapes?
No. Just a general dislike for the mods who seem to be running this site into the ground.

Oh and the fact that they are banning people just because they can.

Death why are you still signed up to it then. Just a curiosity? Not having a go or making a wild point.

I personally use to use the forum for just deals, I now spend most of my time bargain hunting in the FS/FT. But cash flow the last couple of weeks has stopped me.

I do think there are other ways of changing the bumping system, but I use what I can now, and hope things will change with time.

I think FS/FT is ok. I've sold plenty on here and still list the odd thing.

I sell most of my stuff on eBay and PlayTrade however as the prices after fees are still better but sometimes it's just easier to list on here.

I like to see the bump rule etc enforced as much as poss as then everyone has a fair crack. I think a lot of the time peoples things don't sell because it's either the price as for a few quid more or often less on eBay you can get a bit more security buying. The other reason is due to the amount of threads posted now that a thread can only last 5 mins on the 1st page so even with your bumps you probably can end up with about 20-30 of max exposure and many people will miss them.

Because I like how it used to be before the flood of misc crap and wave of new mods. I hope it can return. But I spose without them it would turn into something no one will like, so I guess I have to live with it. They just need to lighten up a bit. Especially on those who have been here for a long time.

The second point would probably be more effective, having categorys of sale like AV. But I don't think HUKD want to just concentrate on that. Think they would need a lot more mods.

I totally agree with that, which is i think that maybe you should only be aloud say 3 live threads at a time, this would make things easier on all fronts, i have seen members on here whilst locking 6 threads lsiting another 6 threads, that one member can wipe the front page within minutes, also same as members using 3 bumps withing hours then getting it locked, it doesn't matter to them to wait 7 days to relist as they have another dozen threads to bump or list, unfair on thise that have the odd thing to list, against those who have hundreds

If I meant that I would have said it.

i agree with adam that although a avforums style classifieds with sections and subsections is good, but only if your looking for something specific otherwise you have to check them all. This is a general deals site, AVforums is more AV orientated, although other things are allowed.

However AVForums idea of just a title, and maybe a little description i think would be good so on the first page instead of having 10 items there are like 25.

Another case of the mods being way too heavy handed. One of the newest mods too (and imo the worst).

Confused what was unfair there. Guy has 75 posts and is selling an expensive item? He hasn't given them a punishment just asked them to upload pictures. Thinks a good response, if he uploads pictures he will be bumped to the top of the listing with a thread unlock post? If he doesn't upload pictures nothing is wrong with keeping it locked to stop potential scammers?

Do you think that's too heavy handed? The op was asked to provide pictures for a high priced item so as to avoid anyone being scammed, and he didn't .... it was almost 24 hours later that the thread was expired.

Was asked almost 24 hours ago, but might not have been seen almost 24 hours ago. Last post by him was about 12 hours ago. Some people actually go out during the day so might not have a chance to upload them.

Also the tickets have been released.

He was on today at 3pm so he would/could have seen the request and could at least have acknowledged it. No one to blame but himself.

the bloke hadnt put them up in a few hours, it wasnt like it was a few days or anything..i didnt know there was a time limit on pictures maybe he was out of his house and not sitting at his computer. plus the tickets have been released cause i have mine they come last tuesday and other people i know got them up to a week before.

the mods on this site are way to strict and clearly pick on certain people and favour others.

to the OP you can ask for offers i think you just need to state the price you want then you can just put somthing like open to sensible offers, dont see how that would be against the rules and if it is thats just stupid

Is everyone over trusting all of sudden. The guy could be anyone unless you know him personally how do you expect to mods to pass judgement on no further evidence. All the guy has to do is Report the thread and explain he now has photos.

Because he can still trade through the post? If its locked he can't post to replies to members new or old saying yes I'll take them or not.

Save there being problems?

me personally I wouldnt start a thread if the pictures weren't available,(think I did maybe once at the begining ) its soo annoying having to ask (which is a bump) and when someone says I'll put pics up tonight/tomorrow your less likely to remember to check that thread.
