There seems to be an increase in people that use the site purely for the FS/FT that i don't see anywhere else which is a shame.

I dunno to to be honest. I use the FS/FT a lot, Misc, Deals, Vouchers, Freebies etc.

the only part I dont use is feedback, for reason I wont go it to. :p

however theres no rule or guideline that says a user is or isnt restricted to using any specific area of the forum. Some users may user the other sections like deals, freebies, vouchers and not post.....but only post in FS/FT.....

just because you dont see that user contributing in other areas of the forum doesnt mean to say that they are definitely not. and even if they were, again, theres no rule against it.

:)

Want to buy my GTX 295?

:-D

In fairness I trawl all areas of the site. Not quite sure why since I invariably come away with lighter pockets.

Agreed, each to their own :) What you class as "tat" someone else may think is a bargain :)

lulu - dont think op meant posters who are part of hukd community - like yourself - you sell bits now and again (i bought) but its the ones who -as op says using this site as ebay- and i will agree with him partly - some is tat - people putting baby clothes up for sale and they havent even been ironed - and it ihs got worse past couple of months

since i have been a member you had fs/trade and it seemed generally good- now it sems every week there is a thread about an op being ripped off -

it never used to be like that - as someone mentioned maybe there should be a certain criteria to be reached before you can sell

as this site is all about deals and giving, helping etc,for example take todays misc, one of the members had an issue on a blue tooth dongle and a result for the Op .. the issue I have is that many take take take and contribute the square route of nothing .. if we are being pedantic :?

Dont agree. I can purchase from the deals section and contribute directly to the site via the affiliate so that HUKD makes money from my purchase, however as I dont need to post to say "just purchased, thanks" then from what you are saying then I wouldnt have contributed at all, which would be wrong.

Also you are putting everyone who just views the site and doesnt register, in to the same bucket as not contributing yet when they purchase from the deals they see they are also contributing by making money from using the HUKD site.

The Misc and FS/FT are just ways of building a HUKD community for those who wish to use it. Its negative opinions like yours (albeit you are entitled to air that opinion and dont have any issues with that), that demonise other users when in fact you have no basis to do that at all.
[mod]#12
I think there's some confusion between site contribution and community contribution.

Earning the site money in my eyes is different to contributing to the community itself.

I personally don't earn the site any money as i don't use the click throughs and choose to go direct to the site in question and then find it myself but i contribute to the community in other ways.

If it's "tat", no one would buy it, and it would soon fall off into obscurity, if it's being bumped with comments, then the person thinking about purchasing it doesn't regard it as "tat".

How would you measure a members "worth" before they can list what you regard as"tat"?

i may be wrong but some other sites have a way of contribution toward the site before certain privileges can be gained..
as for demonising.. interesting choice of words.. good job we have a point of view and are allowed to air it..

and likewise I dont use the click thorugh links either but contribute elsewhere to the users

Agreed, but the chances of the community existing without the money contribution would be very low.:)

Removed off topic posts. PLEASE keep them to the misc forum.

one FS thread per user at one time, no new FS threads to be created till their current one is dealt with.

I think that's a great idea.

I'm guilty of having more than one running at a time but it wouldn't bother me in the slightest. I see it as a hobby. lol.

Some people have so many it seems more business like........i think limiting it to one thread would help make the distinction clearer. :)

Sy started a related discussion a couple of weeks ago

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/342600/should-there-be-a-limit-to-how-many/

I don't really use the FS/FT forum but a limit might be a good idea....

if you think a user is trading like a business report them and the mods will deal with them under the rules of no trader like behaviour allowed and they will be restricted in selling

also there are bound to be more fs threads as more people join.....yes long time ago when there was only 10 users there was no problem but there are tens of thousands of members and guests now.....evolution

not eveybody chooses to post spam in misc......if that is contributing to "the community"

we could start off that way especially with new users, then after a certain positive feedback level increase in stages

so would you think in excess of 10 for sale threads for one user in one day is fair ?

maybe hotdeals should charge commison !!

why doesnt hukd do the same as avforums (both ran on vbulletin) and install the itrader mod which limits users opening multiple for sale threads .... easier to raise disputes / problems (they move threads to the seperate forum) its also easier to just ban / suspend rule breakers from the for sale forum (so they can still talk in other forums etc)

all hukd would need is to have the styling changed to match the current one here (10 mins work if that)

im sure itrader is free, and has a large community to help it get installed etc and has regular updates

this would enable the mods to have less time messing about with the f/s with reports etc

how does that benefit users or change anything exactly?

strange

if hukd wouls sort the feedback system out im sure most would only have one thread running, but members are now using one thread per item, running 20 threads at a time, and when they bump these its in one go so front page can have all one persons thread at one time, the suggestion has been said about so many live threads to be running at one time but believe it was met with no response from the team

That looks a really good idea on paper.

If only there was some way of ensuring that people actually read and understood the Forum Rules and indeed the Opening Post of a F/S, F/T item.................................:x:x

Would it be possible for some feedback from the team?

Things seem very quiet in here regarding any suggestions now and only seem to get responses if it is a 'Why can't i vote?', 'Why was my deal removed?' or 'Why was i suspended etc' threads.

Unfortunately I can only agree with that Sy.
My last two questions in feedback appear to have been totally ignored. It's like some of us don't exist anymore ?

lol, probably a gentle hint ?

we had some answers to some question a few weeks ago and now it seems it has slipped back into the old ways, silence.. unless they have done the " fingers in ears lah lah lah lah we are not listening " trick :x

I can't see anything wrong with having 1 or possibly 2 threads open at one time especially now with the 3 bumps. It would cut down on the new thread for every item thing.

Echo the above.

Feedback should be a two way thing. Can't help think there is a distinct lack of interest to hearing about faults, problems and suggestions to improve.

dunno but maybe because there are 170,000 members on the site whch seem to be happy

yet only around a half dozen or so members that arent happy with the way things are

may have some kind of bearing? but i dunno
