i cant see why having multiple is a problem

can someone please explain why it is?
[admin]#2
It is important that people are accountable for what they write. Having more than one id means people can manipulate conversations and not be accountable for their posts. Plus of course there are the problems with FS/FT.

To be honest I think this thread is not very useful in this form. I would rather have threads started on specific issues. So for example a thread asking about multiple ids would be topical in this case (I think we've already been through it in the past actually).

Really honestly Iom-RF I think that is twisting the situation.

It isn't just me that had an issue last night Paul, Thats not twisting anything.

"(I think we've already been through it in the past actually)." Well thats not very pratical for a newbie is it?

?? Why go through the discussion about multiple ids if we have a thread already that may answer jasonrat's question? And then he can add on to it if it doesn't.

Here's a link:

some people sometimes need to hide their id for the sake of anonimity
for example peole ave problems and come here for advice
my user name is similar to my name and i would prefer sometimes to have ids that are obscure like iom -rf
[admin]#7
Iom-RF - start a thread then with the specific issues you want discussed then.

Whats this one for then?

No offense Paul but it would've been easier if you'd split the posts from the other thread and put them into this one.

Wouldn't it be better to have one thread with all 'Issues' so you can easily find them and reply?

Anyone that PM's me, I normally end it with my first name, I don't really hide anything.

(IOM is Isle of Man (Where I live), RF = My initials.)
#11
oh well it was obscure to me

not anymore
#12
My username is nothing to do with my real name, just my interests...
#13
Paul, Do you have posting restrictions for newbies?

I'm just think it will get too fragmented and if any issues are brought up they will overlap posts and we won't actually get anywhere.

If there are things that need to be talked about then it is important that we can clearly identify them and then come to grips with each one.

maybe if your the type of person who likes to discuss personal stuff on forums it would be wise just to create a name thats not recognisable for everything, that would be simpler, multiple id's suggest dishonesty to some so imo its best to avoid, also where the for sale forum is open to members its easier to build a reputation

It's ok to have an obscure user name or different names on different forums. The rule about multiple ids here on HUKD is that we want to make sure a user is equivalent to a person - if members can't assume that then conversation and manipulation etc get out of hand.

Wow, nice to see some people are keeping this place so friendly. Personally, I think Admin is doing a great job and this place was in need of some of these rules for a long time.

What do you mean by restrictions?

exactly but people don't think of that when u register to a forum
this has been my nickname for since i first discovered the net
you gain trust on forums and chat away to distant cyber friends
no i am not the one who discusses personal stuff (apart from a job opportunity i was proposed which i feel is confidential ) but have seen it on other forums especialy mse where you do get posters who are in need of advice amongst their freinds of a personal subject
#21
Multiple accounts are often not allowed as some people choose to be argumentative, Annoy members or to agree with themselves, Give themselves thanks/rep, More heat on a deal and so fourth.

Can a Newbie post anywhere on HUKD?
Can their first post be anywhere on HUKD?
Do you 'check' them out them first?

Yes

Can their first post be anywhere on HUKD?

Yes

Do you 'check' them out them first?

That is realistically impossible. Obviously any first posts we see in fs/ft or deals areas we are really cautious about. We also have some automated things in place that scan initial posts for certain tell-tale signs of abuse and it takes it automatically off the site. I'd rather not go into details on that though but let's just say 95% of the crap most members never see or if they do its only because it was there for a couple minutes.

I can relate to that somewhat, I've posted my age, Location (again!!), Job status and basically a mini life story, I think I felt very comfortable on HUKD, Without thinking about who could actually view my posts, Anyone in the world!!!

I nearly posted a pic on the weekend picture thread, But Amongst other things, I'm on a few other local forums and they know i'm here under this name, If I posted a pic it would be very easy to spot me, Living on a small Island etc.

Oh, I see.
I had a newbie contact me because they could not post in the Misc or Suggestion Forums.:? :?

Can you let Aion (Or any other one of his new forum names) post please?

You said you'd be open to debate, As you know, He created that very long post, Took him awhile and he was pretty miffed when it was deleted.

At least hear him out, At the moment he gets to make one post and then he's banned.

Iom-RF - I don't run around banning people without leaving the door open to conversation. He's contacted me by pm and we're having a chat.

Do you mean Jase159 and Jrwhathisname?

He/she is now also Vicky1970. (Well his Mother apparently.)

And Aion was banned on Friday night for disagreeing with Admin (He didn't tread on eggshells, He went straight to the point.)

Aions point(s) were valid and i felt that they should not have been deleted :x

What was the point? Seriously, what was it? There is a lot of talk about issues and censoring disagreement so let's talk about them.

Did a bunch of people have off topic posts deleted from that thread? Yes, but I wasn't going to have the thread turn into another mosque/liverpool fight. That wasn't the point of the thread and hijacking it that way wouldn't have been useful to anyone. Aion's initial post was about those issues which is why it was removed.
[admin]#33

What were the points? Why aren't we talking about these points then? You've got a thread you've got a forum let's talk.

Yep, Jase the scammer and liar. He made a fool out of me, it will not happen again.

I would like to know why n1ck09 wasn't banned for their post in the 'Words that should be added to the filter' post. The words they posted was well out of order and I received that post by Subscription.

I think its because he created the Liverpudlian issue, After a few PM's though (Because I disagreed with what he said about "Scousers", That was sorted and IMO given time, It would've been sorted on the thread.

It was back in that screenshot that I posted that Iom bvrought up a couple pf pages back (or the other thread) - what his other account wrote i thought was fair, but it was deleted simply because he created a dupe account.

Paul, You deleted the comments very quickly, Did you read them?

Do you think it is fair to me to try and have an open conversation and talk to people at a level of respect when the other side of the conversation is not being honest about who they are? Is that a fair way to communicate? I'm not dumping on Aion - he has apologised for this in pm and I accept that but I'm just saying, come on, in terms of setting out the situation fairly and asking for an honest and respectful conversation that is not the way we should be going about it.

I agree that creating dupe accounts is not the way to go about things - but if another member who did not argue posted that (without the bottom slating bit) i feel it might have been treated differently and accepted as someone's point f view.
