Mods will always act where there is absolute proof of wrong doing by Merchants or their agents.

... The mods do a difficult job between keeping spam out, hunting down self-promo, moderating comments and managing the deals. I believe in their dedication to the HUKD community and see any of these issues as my fault for not communicating and reinforcing where the line is in these decisions...

absoliute proof? for merchants previously banned how have you actually proved anything?
surely its just weight of circumstantial evidence? or do they join using internal emails?

Could you be kind enough to look into this please? As you the mods have the powers to match IP addresses etc.

As a user I don't have the powers to provide absolute proof, just personal observation.

So who cares? If the deals are good, and the hukd community are benefiting, then it shouldn't matter.

This is the reason The Hut/Zavvi are banned, and now loads of people (including myself) are losing out on some great deals.

...because you are too lazy to go to The Hut Gripe's sites & look for products you are interested in?

HotUKDeals.com isn't here for the convenience of merchants to spam with listings of their respective product catalogues.

Knowingly making claims that "this is the cheapest an item has ever been" (or similar wording) in the thread description (opening post) of any thread created by a representative or an associate of the organisation selling the item would be only too easy to do.

The fact a policy exists to stop scams occurring is a benefit to the site.

For example, self-promotion may lead to issues such as this:

"RVTL / Equinox cream free trial"

PS. You are still able to see "Deals" for products you are interested in, & then go to the sites for the merchants (temporarily) restricted to check on prices, of course.

The thing is they aren't good deals, every single one has been voted cold and of limited selection/sizes which obviously the OP never amends as they disappear, self promotion isn't allowed and this is no doubt self promotion

No good when the deals are non existent and when orders are cancelled.

Glad I'm not going nuts as I spotted this pattern of new members and deals for JD weeks ago. Kind of looks like head office need to clear out the remain single single pairs of shoes or actually nothing available at all. If Tesco advertised fake deals / prices where there is no actual stocks available there would be uproar as it would be seen as a trick to get people to stores rather than actually offer the advertised so called bargain.

FP, I can't believe you would make such a stupid point (in regards to the bit in bold).

It doesn't make you lazy not going to the The Hut/Zavvi website everyday to look for bargains, it would be a complete waste of time. Do you think most hukd members just buy things that are on their 'Shopping list' and follow that list strictly? The answer is NO, of course they don't.

People buy things that are cheap or on offer which they may want to try, e.g. a new video game etc. It's pathetic that you even raised the issue of 'laziness' in regards to this.

For instance: how many people have always aimed to purchase a 'Karcher WV50 Window Vac'? Don't you think a lot of people just bought one as it was cheap, and due to the fact that the majority of hukd members gave it good reviews in the comments section?

I worded it like that because I have seen one of your previous comments saying that you would not wish to look through Zavvi's entire web site for products to see if they were cheaper.

I am in the minority then. I don't buy products just because they are listed at HotUKDeals.com.

I may consider buying an item, & research prices (or alternate products). Looking at this site, price comparison sites, & individual merchant sites is part of the process of selecting the best price/offer.

Those with limited/low income don't do that.

No, I don't think that at all. Some people have willpower.

I'm sorry you bought one.

Well obviously people with 'limited/low income' don't do that, but lots of hukd members are not in that situation. If they like one of the deals and it's cheap, and they want it, they may buy it - even though it was not on their 'Shopping list'.

And nice try, but I didn't buy a Window Vac anyway. (_;)

I don't recall being asked to take part in that survey! :)

Yes, that does happen, but perhaps not as much as you think it does.

I would like to be proven wrong, as buying tat that is not needed, just because it is "cheap", is the sign of a recovering economy.

1. You don't need a survey, as it's obvious. *facepalm*

2. Occasionally buying things which are not on somebody's original 'Shopping list' does not mean it is 'tat', it's normal behaviour.

3. If you actually think I bought the vac, then that's fine. Although, I would have commented in such a thread and would have said 'bought and thanks OP' or something similar, but I didn't.

1. Opinions are not facts. They may be facts, but just because somebody states something that doesn't make the statement true.

2. I see you've "downgraded" to "occasionally". OK, we now agree. Most people occasionally make purchases "for the hell of it". That doesn't mean all people always do that, though. As I said, that comes down to an individual's willpower & their disposable income.

3. Is that the "Deal" that got away? Never mind. That means you can now buy different tat at a later date.

1. 'Most people in the UK would like a free holiday abroad to any country of their choice, if possible', I'm not going to find a survey which supports this, but I know it's true. How do I know this? It's obvious.

2. lol at 'downgraded', I didn't. I would say it's based on someone's income mainly, but I still think the majority of people do it. :)

3. zzzzzzzzzz.

1. It is far from obvious. It depends on the country. If that country is, say, Afghanistan, or Russia, I suspect "most" is overstating the quantity. Some people never want to go abroad at any cost.

2. Taken from comment #12:

1. Did you even bother to read the comment? I wrote 'any country of their choice'. And actually it is obvious that 51% or more of people in the UK would want to go on a free holiday anywhere in the world for free.

2. I used the word most, so in fact I didn't 'downgrade' - I said that all along. I never stated that ALL hukd members are always buying things all of the time not from their shopping list, that's how you've interpreted my comment. My point was the majority of hukd members buy items which are on offer/cheap, even if those products are not on their 'Shopping list', which was made even clearer in comment #16, not that I needed to.

By the fact that I answered stating some of the text from it, I would say it was obvious.

Just like in the comment above, I can see you have said a "free holiday... for free".

Yes, I read everything.
